Dragons to the Cave and Ramblings

First off, a huge thank you to Buddy and Scott for providing this excellent opportunity. Mama and I had a fantastic time with old friends and new. I rode down in clear weather for the first fifty-eight miles and then about 190 in varying degrees or rain. I came out of the rain just below Choteau and then hit the mother lode just about five miles from the turn in to the park. Rode all the way home in the dry missing one shower by just about two miles. Went 175 miles without going to reserve (Standard tank) on the first leg back.
I had a few thoughts regarding riding on rainy days.
When riding on dry road one should ride as rapidly as he safely can to make the most use of the dry before running into wet roads again.
When riding in the rain one should ride as fast as he safely can because the more quickly the ground is covered the sooner we'll be back on dry road.
When one rides without a screen thirty miles or more in significant rain there is likely no rain gear that will keep him dry.
There are few disappointments to equal that first cold sensation in one's crotch that signals the rain gear has failed.
Stopping while soaked will not normally warm the rider and will only make it more difficult to get started again.
When one is met with a jovial cager expressing that it's not a good day to be riding a motorcycle, the best response is a simple, "Tends to even itself out, doesn't it?"
Truthfully, when you're sitting around with your friends reliving your motorcycles adventures, are you more likely to talk about the perfect day in sunshine and a light breeze or that time you got caught in the tidal wave from the clouds?
It was indeed a great weekend to be riding a motorcycle.

Willow, my friend, it was great to see you and your 23 year old bride again. Twice in as many weeks no less.
It was also great sharing some SE Oklahoma roads with you as well. Lets do it again, what do you say?

If I wasn't stuck in Dallas for work, BJ and I had planned to make this ride. Maybe next year.

I'm planning the improvements already!
