Who would you recommend for OEM Honda parts? Honda Direct Line is the only one I'm familiar with. And I'm pretty sure they match prices. Who else is good out there?

bugslayer.....i always get the price from hdl, then i take that price to my local honda dealer, and they always price match for me.  this does two things...i don't have to pay a handling fee that hdl charges, and two i don't have to pay a shipping charge....so it's always cheaper this way.  also i usually get the part faster.

Be sure to check the shipping charges. Prices maybe great, but the shipping on some of these sites is $20.

I'll call and ask if they'll match prices. I seriously doubt they'll do it, though. He has to pay for his Dodge Viper somehow...  Shocked

If I can find some place cheaper than HDL, then HDL will match the price. They also have free shipping, and no handling charges for purchases over $199. No tax is also a plus.

Thanks.

Well, this is how it worked out. My local dealership does not match Internet prices. (I'm really not surprised, but it was worth a shot. ) However, HDL had the best price I could find. They're also going to let me use the 10% discount that isn't supposed to start until Wed.
I'm good with it.

They can take a while to ship the parts, as they have to order the parts, then receive them, then ship them to you.  I don't think they keep anything in stock.
Shipping time is not clear when you purchase, so it's probably a good idea to call them and ask when you might be receiving the parts.

Yep, I knew when I ordered they don't stock the OEM parts. It'll take a while longer for delivery. That's OK, though. If I can save some money, I'll wait.

Thanks for the heads up!   cooldude

I've always had good luck and service from HDL. When my alt. went out they said it would be a week until they got it and then a couple of days to get it to me. I told them to overnight it as soon as they got it. Well the next day UPS was at my door about 10am. They had drop shipped from their warehouse straight to me.I was back on the road that afternoon. bugslayer......it's a shame that your local dealer won't price match.  the bulk of them do.  for me with mine price matching, i'm actually getting my parts alot cheaper than i would at hdl, plus i almost always have them in my hand in two days.

I have had excellent luck when ordering OEM from Hollister Honda.

www.hollisterhonda.com They say up to 30% off factory price listings. cooldude

Sometimes they offer free shipping and the wait has been reasonable for delivery. They are real close to me well about 40 minute drive so if soemthing goes wrong I can be on their door in 40 minutes and I have the direct contact info for the Parts manager and the general manager also, including his home phone.

Agreed.

Hey Bugslayer, what area in Lubbuck are you? My Grandfather lived over in MuleShoe until he got too sick to live at home then my Father moved him into a nusring home in Lubbock, so we spent a bit of time there for a few summers running around those areas when I was just a little kid.

Does this look familiar?

Just thought I'd mention - maybe not so good if far away from California - I ordered cover set, screen set, and sender unit o-ring on May 14th. Got notice that they were shipped on May 21st, with tracking number. Were ACTUALLY shipped on the 24th, with expected arrival on the 31st. I've never waited more than 7 days, from HDL out of Ohio. And, the prices I paid were just about equivalent.

I'm off for a week, starting Friday morning, expected pretty much to have my parts, and my tank swapped, since I would think those would be fairly common parts, and hitting the road Sunday, after the Indy 500, with my new tank in place.

Ain't gonna happen like that, now...

Just my experience with Hollister.

Well that sucks... I had one less than perfect experience but it was only the second month that they had been doing the online parts store, and the GM made it right in a "farking" hurry.

I will pass this on to the General Manager, I guess it won't help you this time but they need to know or they might do it again to the next guy.  Would you like me to ask the GM to contact you personally?

Well I was just a kid for most of the summers (few weeks during the summer) we spent there,,, but I have seen that damn MULE many times I even have a picture with my Dad helping me climb up it I think I was around 8-9y/o. Unless that is a newer one than what I am thinking it is.

Nah, not necessary. UPS Ground is going to take a week, period, from California. Postal priority, probably 3 days, max. A few states away, they will be about the same, but that far, USPS has UPS, Fed Ex, etc, beat. Should've thought about that, and maybe asked for Priority mail. Plus, getting notice on being sent, on the 21st, but tracking itself saying the 24th, meant getting it maybe 3 days later than I was expecting. Just wanted to point that out, to someone contemplating buying from dealer across country. On a big order, where maybe I saved $20, its worth a few extra days. But if I  only save a buck, the 5 days I might have gotten it faster from next state over, WELL worth the few extra bucks.

That's all I meant. Not questioning Hollister.

When I hit a deer back in 2006, I shopped servicehonda.com for many prices, then went to HDL where they either matched or beat them all.  I have had great service from HDL, even when there was a mix-up in the colors of the new front fender I needed.  It was a Honda problem, not HDL, and they worked with me to get a new fender...actually it wasn't until the 3rd one that the color was correct.  It also helps that their Ohio store is only about an hour drive from my house, so I was able to just go there to work it out.
