Took me 3 days, but I Gotter Dun. I think I can do it in a day and a half now. 2funny I did lots of other things to it while I had it apart. Double row bearing mod. Nutcage mod. Cut out the piggys. Also made a dustseal for the bearing which i will share in Tech board later. Had some part hunting to do. It was apart for 3 days. Roll Eyes Someone should have warned me that it is really no fun to do this for the first time by yourself. I have watched it done twice but still missed a few of the details of the ease of putting it back together. Even with all of the luxurys of my shop at hand it was still quite an experience.
I rode about 50 miles on it tonight. it did just as I was told it would do. No surprises or alarming moments except a parking lot I crossed that had lots of large chunks of asphalt and some 3 to 4 inch drop offs.  i was able to get on a rode where thay were doing construction and had done just one side and made a 2" rise in about 6". I kept going back and forth up it just to get a feel of the tire.
Again it was no surprise with the handling. Still alittle apprehensive on cornering real hard but i know that will get better. I loved it on the straight rode at speed. It felt smoother than the MT but yet firmer. Running 40lbs in it right now. Will experiment with the pressure. My conclusion is that it just gives a  ???lot more feedback. I really liked it and glad that I did it.
Not freakin over it fitting anymore 2funny even though I can barely fit a piece of paper between the swingarm and the tire.

You have two problems with picture insertion.  First is that the url you're using doesn't exist.  Which of the following pictures did you want to post?
100_4677.jpg
100_4678.jpg
100_4681.jpg
100_4683.jpg
100_4685.jpg
100_4686.jpg
100_4688.jpg

Second, you have some errors in the code.  When you hit the "insert image" button, it will automatically insert some text:  "img" in brackets, and "/img" in brackets.  Put your image url in between these.  Thus:  (openbracket)img(closebracket)http://vrcc.photostash.com/vrcc_32101/100_4667.jpg(openbracket)/img(closebracket)
(openbracket)=[
(closebracket)=]
I couldn't actually type it, or it would just insert it as an image.

HogHead, way to go.   cooldude cooldude

My first experience changing out my rear tire, Ujoint, double row bearing, and all rear end maintenance was a similar lengthy experience, and I too cleaned and detailed every part, brakes, rubbed fender wiring, etc along the way.  Four days for me, but the point was to learn, take my time and do it right.  The rear end unit hanging up on the tire hub, and the ujoint boot took untold hours and cussing (my neighbor said he had not heard such colorful language strung together since he was in the Navy   Grin). (I have to work in the driveway)

And I too have serious garage/shop envy........ man yours is the bomb!!!

You guys are to kind, thanks for the compliments. I have seen a lot more shops on here that just blow me away. Disco, everthing was well greased and looked new. Even though all the orings looked new I replaced them anyway. Jess, I'm amazed that I kept my shop language to a minimum. I spent most of my time obsessing on cleaning everthing. I could of eliminated a lot of frustration if i had just opened the manual and followed procedure. I have this "I Got This" uglystupid2 syndrome and the I Got It ussually Gets Me in a lot of crap. 2funny After I got it almost back together I wasn't sure if i put enough paste in the hub splines so i took it back apart to check :uglystupid2:I always have time to do it right the second time and I can do it twice as fast. 2funny
Went for another 50 miles today on a lt of different rodes and practiced some figure 8's and some quick stops. I liked how it stopped nice and straight. I even popped my first wheelie on the fat lady. Cool The only uncomfortable moments were in a deep lean in a curve it felt like it was slipping. I think that is just the feel it has when it breaks over the edge. Is that a normal feel? I'm going to lower the pressure tomorrow and see how it feels.

That looks like a Toyo Proxes T1 -S   cooldude  I have that tire also.  I'd go up a pound or two, rather than lowering the PSI,  Just my .02

The only time I ran 30lbs (by accident) the bike wallowed so bad and would not stay straight in the lane, that I thought I had made a big mistake.  Up at 40 all was much better (on a Goodyear Tripletred.... I am convinced that different tires/sidewalls/treads need different pressures for an optimal ride).  I have stayed at 40, and that tire is now at 28K with no abnormal center wear.

All car tires take a little breaking in (maybe thru 4-600 miles), and I think this is mostly increasing sidewall flexibility on use, as well as scuffing in.  And, you get better at riding it over the first 10-20 rides, realizing the occasional wobble or bump is to be ignored.  I have followed car tires and been followed by others who reported what they saw, and the tred stays flat thru medium lean, then up on half the tread at full peg dragging lean.  Never on the edge alone.  I have never had slippage on the car tire, except maybe on a loose sand surface with too much throttle (tire spin, not sideways slippage).

Keep at it.   cooldude

PS, I like the minature self portrait in the chrome license plate lite housing.

BTW, what is that, a gold wing bumper?

What Jess said.

I find that higher PSI mitigates handling differences from an MC tire, but it very much seems to be a tire-to-tire, rider-to-rider preference.  I also like to stiffen the shocks some.

Eventually you'll come to learn that the car tire sticks to the road.  Period.

Gear Jammer it's a Goodyear Eagle F-1 205-55. Jess the tire is already broke in. I bought it used. I know you all are saaying now. He bought a used tire!!!! ???  Someone posted a pic of this tire on here one night and I went on Ebay and it was the first one to pop up. When I got it if I hadn't of known it was used I wouldn't have been able to tell. half the price of a new one. I really like how the 40 psi feels. I may go up a couple and see how it feels. It took a lot of pics to get me just right in there Jess. 2funny The bumper. I made it out of angle iron. You don't want to know how many hrs. Will never do that again. crazy2 The plugs on the end come out for my flagpoles when I ride PGR missions.

I run 36-38psi in my car tires as more pressure seems to wear the center out too fast. I'm running bridgestone potenza G19 now but I've ran cooper zeons, falken 512, toyo, and  a yokahama. All good tires I try to stay with the softer compound tires as they seem to stick better also try to stay with the higher speed tires V or higher.
