I just picked up a low milage '01 standard, and it was missing a few things such as the battery box cover, strap, and helmet holder cable. I have looked through the microfiche, and I am wondering if I have the right part number for the helmet strap.
The one I found was #6 on the SEAT page (WIRE, HELMET SET 77236-KAZ-780). Is this the right number?
Also, is there a good place to pick up some progressive springs and timing belts?
Thanks.

Can't help much on the other parts, but here is a link to the timing belt numbers. You can get them cheaper locally than from Honda. http://www.jkozloski.com/generic_parts.htm

I've never seen anyone use the OEM helmet holder cable. BigBikeParts makes a clutch pin replacement that is a great helmet lock. I've used mine for years.

I use it occasionally.

A friend of mine is using this and is sending me an extra he has at home. Clips it to mirror support. Much more convenient than the OEM that I never use. Also come with a 70" cable ($10) you can use to secure a jacket, etc.

csharg....yep....that's the right number.....but i'll guarantee you this: 9 out of 10 of these valkyrie riders do not use the cable. in fact...if you looked under the seat of most of these bikes the cable is not there-it's at their garage hanging on the wall.

I have a couple of the cables you can have free if you insist on having one. With the IS now I have zero use for them.

I use a gun cable lock and secure it to the sissy bar and let the helmet sit on the passenger seat.
