And then she said.....:

"I'm publicizing Americana and our foundation and how important it is that we learn about our past and our challenges and victories throughout American history, so that we can successfully proceed forward," Palin said in the broadcast interview."

Good idea. Duh.

Stumbling over a few words would be a slip, but recounting history inaccurately, and then vigorously defending it, is a sign of arrogant ignorance coupled with stupidity.

I'm not an Obama apologist, but please...  There's really no comparison.

you tell me how to buy American products.  I want to buy an ipod, or a car, or a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.  There are American companies that make all of these products...just not in USA.  Why is that?

Never have so many listened to a man who knows so little and keep knodding to what they think is a real smart man.

Amazing ,,,,,,,,,never seen anything like this before.

Woe to us that sit here and listen and don't work to get this guy unelected.

You know what they say about good men that sit idle by and don;t confront evil.

Evil then flourishes.

Obama(Barry Soetoro) is not a communist or a socialist. He is a faicist, it's simple and escapes most.

Just watch the way he says "I" instead of we the people.

It is written all over him.

It will come out one day, I hope not too late.

I don't think Obama is in office due to "the indifference of good men", but rather a combination of strong support from non-whites and weak offerings from the Republican party.

And now, for the real story...

http://www.paulreverehouse.org/ride/real.html

There were no "bells" and gunshots during his historic ride.  It was a covert operation to warn specific patriots of the method the British were using to arrest them.

In his letter, revere tells of being stopped by British officers who interrogated him.  He bluffed them by saying he has warned all people along his route in order to intimidate them.  This is a far cry from Palin's account.

Covert to the British.  After being chased by two British officers, he probably figured his cover was blown, and alerted a local Captain of the Minutemen, and "almost every house" on his way to Lexington.

How about an IQ test to run for office?

true enough, I heard many times of the "57 states" Obama campaigned in. however fox is the only news show you listed here. the others are conservative talk shows, and you will get a conservative point of view. much like when I listen to Randi Rhodes or Ed Schultes I'll get the liberal point of view.  it's not news it's their opinion.

There is no disputing that when one acquires wealth, that wealth comes from someone else, either through wages from and employer or by selling a product or service to that person (or robbing them).
Sure there is a dispute. To accept you premise, you have to beleive that an economy is a zero-sum game where there is a finite amount of wealth. That is a false premise, and that is not disputable. There is such thing as wealth creation.

Quote
There is no disputing the fact that there is a rapidly growing disparity in wealth in this country (and as a result, a growing rate of poverty) arguably created by 30+ years of supply-side economics.
I don't know where to start with this one.... First, the welfare state has done more to create a disparity than anything else by destroying the inner city middle class. When 40% of men don't work, they are not going to be upwardly mobile. Second, trickle down economics is ECON 101. It is how a economy works.  It is one part of how money moves which is the definition of a economy.

Quote
There is no disputing the fact that the last time this disparity was at the level it is now was immediately before the Great Depression.
Nope, its worse now.

Quote
There is no disputing the fact that wealth, held unused by an individual or corporation, does nothing for the economy.
That is a blatent falsehood. Unless a corp. of individual stuffs their mattress with bills, the money is working. It is either invested by the entity, in new buisness or old buisness (stock) as capital for further operations of the buisness, with the hope of a
greater rate of return, OR if it is banked, then they money is able to be loaned by banks to individuals or buisnesses to make purchases. The bank charges interest of which some goes back to the investor. One of the reasons that the "principal reduction" garbage is going to hurt us more is it will reduce the available money that can be loaned.

Quote
And there is no disputing the fact that when the economy falters as it has the past few years, it is those at the bottom of the economic ladder that are most affected.
Yep. What is your point? If you raise the cost of living, those who cannot afford to pay are going to be afected most. For a few reasons.. First directly, ans gas prices go up and food gets more expensive, and next by the unemployment because in the way we are going with the highest corp tax rate and the same costs that are applied to a person are applied to a corp 100 fold, no one is going to go out on a limb and hire when they don't hav any clue about what tax they will be paying in 4 months. Lastly, when the govt. backed mortgages and MADE banks write bad loans, many people bought more than they should have. Not only in hoomes, but they went into debt as a way of life. The information on how not to do that has been out there forever, but in the nanny state, it wasn't spoon fed to them so "its not their fault".

While I don't recall ever using the phrase "My ___ faith", I have misspoken while distracted by a TV show, or having a thought or point that I'm concentration on.  Pretty much everyone does this.  I don't even realize I've misspoken unless someone points it out, as I thought I said the correct thing.  It is usually something I've just heard or heard repeatedly, and somehow it finds it's way into my conversation.  Fortunately, I've never referred to my wife by a different name, since I'm sure I'd hear about it!   crazy2

Oh, I can surely agree that we do make mistakes, via distractions, etc.,.......But not on something that has been drilled into each and every one of us since we could walk.  Verrrrry rarely do people flub their names, religion, eye color, shoe size, etc.

He didn't even say "my faith".  He specifically said "my Muslim faith".. He's so full of crap, his eyes are brown!  Or maybe he'll make a mistake and say they're blue.

"My Muslim faith" and his actions and words regarding Israel (telling the world Israel should go back to the 67 borders while Netenyahu was in the air) all lead me to believe that he is Muslim and a palestinian sympathizer.  His refusal to call terrorism terrorism, his refusal to denounce certain Arab terrorist organizations as terrorists also lead me to believe that he is Muslim.  What leads you to believe he is not?  The fact that he says so?

............but in the nanny state, it wasn't spoon fed to them so "its not their fault".

That thar it be in a nutshell.  Nobody has to take responsibility for there own actions or there own lives in Obama and the Liberal world.

There is no disputing that when one acquires wealth, that wealth comes from someone else, either through wages from and employer or by selling a product or service to that person (or robbing them).
Sure there is a dispute. To accept you premise, you have to beleive that an economy is a zero-sum game where there is a finite amount of wealth. That is a false premise, and that is not disputable. There is such thing as wealth creation.

Please explain where new wealth comes from.  It has to come from somewhere.

Yes, trickle-down economics, as a theory, was covered in my economics class.  However, 30+ years of practice in the real world shows that it doesn't work.  Well, it works for some people. A better solution would need to start by answering the question of why 40% of men do not work?  If anyone wants to argue that it is because they are living the high-life on that $200/week check, I'd like to hear it.  Sure, there are some that abuse the system.  But far many more aren't working because they cannot find jobs that pay a real living wage.  Lets face it, poor kids have a hard time affording and getting through to college.  And with the loss of manufacturing jobs in this country, there aren't alot of options beyond min-wage jobs.  It may be because their community is depressed.  It may be because they aren't educated or that they were raised in a home by drug addicted, abusive, or dead-beat parents (or maybe they were left alone unsupervised as a latch-key kid while their likely single parent worked a crap job for little pay), and now they don't know how to act and maybe have criminal records themselves.  There are many possible reasons.  And until we find a way to address those socio-economic barriers to upward mobility, this will always be a problem.  The other thing that you would need to address is what would happen with the dismantling of the welfare system.  You will have to deal with all those starving and homeless people (lots of them kids)...not to mention that this would actually be a hit to the economy with those folks not having money to spend.  Food stamps are actually a back-door subsidy to teh big agricultire industry, among others.  You won't find Big-Ag arguing to get rid of food stamps.

Quote
There is no disputing the fact that the last time this disparity was at the level it is now was immediately before the Great Depression.
Nope, its worse now.
  No arguement from me here.

Actually, not false.  If that money is being invested by the individual or corporation to create jobs, then yes, it is working.  But right now, corporations are sitting on nearly $2T that is not being invested in job creation.  This is actually a plain example of trickle-down economics nor working.  If there is no demand for goods or services, the money doesn't get used.  And while there may be some effect from lending as you say, and I agree with you there, the net end result is actually a small draw on the economy because the interest doesn't create anything.  I agree with you on the principal reduction stuff though.  I can see the arguement where there may be some cases where teh bank would actually benefit from a principal modification when the only option is forcloseing on the home that is underwater and taking a loss that is greater than the loan reduction.  But in general, I think that if the money has been borrowed, it should be paid back.  However, what I would be in favor of woud be some restructuring of the loan to lower payments over a longer period, even if it were temporary.  I don't think anyone benefits from a huge glut of foreclosed homes.  All of our property values (and wealth) goes down because of it.  And alot of these folks didn't over-buy, like many like to accuse them of.  But instead, they had bought what they could afford until some circumstance put them in a hard spot...whether they lost their job due to the recession or they had some health issue and couldn't work or whatever.  Lots of people losing their homes were never late on a payment until now.

What's my point...well...the post that started this whole topic was a supposed quote by Bill Maher that implied that the fact that some people are successful does actually negatively affect the ability of others to be successful.  Right now, the people who are generally being successful in this very negative economy are the wealthy.  I'm not saying it is right or wrong.  But this shift in wealth upwards, widening the wealth disparity gap, is and has been creating an economic environment that is not conducive to the upward mobility of the lower and middle class.  Saying all it takes is hard work is ignorant to the real obstacles that some people face.  Yes it takes hard work.  I've worked hard to get to where I am, which is a solid middle class position.  However, I'm not too arrogant to believe that I didn't have alot of help and some good fortune along the way, nor am I naive to the fact that I'm pretty much a layoff or bad illness away from losing it all.  And There are lots of people who are working hard...probably harder than either you or me...who are still struggling.  Not everyone makes it.

To use your own ideas.......Just because he is Muslim, does he have to be a devout Muslim???  How many millions in the world call themsleves Muslim?  And none of them drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes?  And there are no Jews who eat Bacon, right?  WRONG!

I noticed that minimum wages jobs were mentioned in a negative context. A huge problem is that many folks won't take a minimum wage job because it's "beneath them" when someone who realizes how the market works understands that these are starter or start over jobs. uglystupid2
