Yes - this sort of thing may be perpetuating an injustice and re-confirming the wrong values in the youngsters, but such is life. Means something to the kids.
Whole new can of worms could be opened about our natural bias toward good looks, balanced features and so on; or our (human nature) tendency to attribute assumed character qualities based on looks. I won't go there - but it exists. That's how I got some jobs/promotions...he-he...blush.
Surely the grad itself will see more of earned recognition, as opposed to a fun promo.

Wayne, I can't believe you would want to steal away from my children the only thing they have going for them (and they've done well with it). Seven of my eight children are beautiful, and because they were born in a poverty stricken, lazy, low self esteem family, that's all they had to go on. I'm glad they've been able to play that card as well as they have.
I have pictures somewhere. I ought to get them out and shame you for your prejudice. Hard work, high intellect, strong determination, easy money and good looks; they're all equally important in the successes of life, don't you think?

Of course, I should have seen it... it is the photogenic that get to run this country, not the gals/guys with the brains. Who have ever seen an ugly celeb? Half of Sarah's votes come from those that would like to bonk her as a, no doubt, patriotic gesture. And of course, with 'stars' like Miley Cyrus, Justin Beiber, et al, I realize I have seriously sinned. UP with the hottest!!
