Hail to the king baby!

Yep, I took a drafting supervisor's position in our office at Charlotte North Carolina.  Start in July.  Will be riding the bike out there first chance I can. Too good an opportunity to pass up.  Wages are damn good too! Was hoping to get meet more of the people on the board, but not in the cards.  We should be back in 10 years at retirement.

Congratulations, John!   cooldude   My ol' buddy 2 Valks is just up the road in Winston-Salem.  I'm sure he would love to show you his favorite rides.

It's a little more picturesque in North Carolina than the Panhandle, so it's not all bad.

Congrats on the new job!

You are moving to some of this best roads in the nation!  I moved to Winston-Salem, NC 15 years ago and I am still discovering great day rides.  The BRP is a short ride up I-77 north and Deals Gap is close also.  Let me know when you get here and we can meet.  Charlotte has some good eats and I'll have to introduce to Carolina BBQ!

John,

Congratulations  cooldude on the new job.  Be sure to check out the good diners and dives so you will have places to take us to eat if we make our way up there.

Thanks everyone. Since neither my wife or I know anyone there, it would be great to build friendships that includes out of the way diners and riding beautiful country roads.  On our interview trip, I discovered Carolina pulled pork. Love the sauce!  Things are moving slow, but I should be in town first week of July.
First vehicle out will be the Valk. Especially since it will be 6+ weeks before the wife gets ready to leave.  SO, I plan on some weekend jaunts round the country.
Chip, we will find a weekend to meet and ride soon! Thanks for the invite!

I am so stoked about the change in scenery. Lived in the Panhandle for most my life.  Do you know they have trees, creeks with running water, and real hills??

I have found my dream home already, but it will take lots of pleading for my wife to agree. Nice 3 bdrm mid-sized ranch home. Across the street is a small lake.  Here is the deal sealer for me.  One of the previous owners was a mechanic that worked out of his home.  It has a  3 car garage with a shop that will hold 2 more vehicles, AND,,,, AND an in-ground car lift!!!!!!  Can you say Wrench Sessions??   Grin

The house sounds like a real winner and great place for a wrench party!

Congrats on the new job.  House sounds like a killer deal, especially with the garage.  I was trying to get up there to at least meet ya but that may wait till I visit my sister in Greer, South Carolina.   Be safe out there and God Bless.

Yup! Can't wait to ride some not so straight roads. Have already contacted the Southern Cruiser Club. Greer isn't that far to meet and ride!  I plan on keeping a 4 person tent for overflow visitors. Beds would be first come, first served. Plus that dang garage is soo big we could have a dozen air mattresses in there.

Sorry to hear about Texas losing another Valk rider, but when someone throws a bunch of money at you, what's a guy to do? Everyone here thinks Southeast Indiana is flat..... I just laugh..... They just don't know what flat is..... And I'm less than an hour away from Kentucky.... can't wait to ride down there.

Good luck on your endeavors, and hopefully our paths outside of the great state of Texas will cross!

godfire, if you ever head to Myrtle beach, you have a place to nap, overnight, or just take a break.  No matter which house we decide on!

In this economy it IS hard to turn down a serious raise.
