I did a reply to scammers or firsters, but want all to consider this. Our group covers an extreemly large area. If you want to buy something, there is a member in the area , no matter where. If you want something in the Crystal Lake area in Illinois (or somewhere to ride) I will go look and give my best opinion. We can at least verify that the item at least exists. An honest seller will not mind. I have seen many scams and have played with a few. We have uncovered a few. I am not saying it's all dishonest, but we should all help each other. I do not want to see any one get stung

I agree. Last year Old Grouch and Misfit checked out an I/S for me in Colorado and Stude 31 asked his cousin to check out another one for me in KS. Stude 31's cousin told me to stay away from that one cause the salesman wasn't telling me the whole story. Misfit and Old Grouch called me after they checked out the one near them and said buy it plus told me the few bad things they found. I bought that one and took them to dinner to say thanks for checking it out. These guys checked out Valks for me and I am willing to do it for other members.

I have only been in the VRCC only a short time, and am not trying to take any credit, only trying to help. If the craigs list scam could be avoided, that one buyer would have a real bike now.
I believe June readers digest had an article on the scams on the internet and how most avoid capture. It's a good read

Add me for east-central Alabama (I live 5 minutes from I-20; Birmingham's only an hour away, Atlanta's 90 minutes). I wish I'd called somebody about the bike I bought in TX; at least I would have known it had been partially repainted before flying out there  . |
