Got my bike this morning. Soon after, I gave dad a ride up to an empty parking lot around the corner of our house. I practiced starting/stopping and turning. Afterwards we came home and dad helped me wash/wax it. It's amazing how shiney it got!!! I showed it off to a few friends, then sent them home and followed dad for a few laps around the neighborhood, then back to the parking lot to just putt around.

I'm having a ball! There's some things I still need to practice, but I can do it. Hopefully it doesn't snow again for a while... I can't wait to get back on it!

It looks like you're doing great. I have to say though I'm impressed but not surprised. You've probably ridden more miles on a motorcycle then most any other girl in the U.S. your age. Definetly in the top 1% for your age. It's second nature to you by now.

Like I said, when the time is right tell us where to meet you halfway for lunch. I'm sure several of the Kansas and Colorado guys will be there.

Jerry is a true motor pro. He was on the cops for years. These DVD's are the most informative riding tips I've ever seen. The slow speed stuff is the bomb.
I recommend Jerrys "Ride like a pro" series to anyone at any skill level.
No affiliation etc,
Watch the clips on his web page to get an idea.
Enjoy your new scoot!!! cooldude

Nice bike you have there Lil Bit.... She's shining like a new nickel, it looks perfect for you.

Listen to the Ole Man, he's been riding those two wheelers for a long time and he is going to tell you things as they come to him.... You don't learn to ride a bike overnight, as I'm sure you have ascertained by now.

Read all you can, learn all you can, don't take anything for granted and as ~Timbrwolf told you, watch out for those darned cages, they will run you over or run you off the road before you even know it. I've had folks look me dead in the eye and be convinced that they can see me so I relax and power on, only to have to jam on the brakes to keep from running into them.

Watch out for 11 o'clock, as that's where most "snipers" come from, that's people turning in front of you....

Check your six (behind you) often and always be in first gear when you come to a stop.

Your Dad ROCKS ,eh?

Looks great! One thing I learned when I was about your age was that I hate
to fall off my motorcycle when I don't have gloves on  Lips Sealed

 cooldude !! That's Great !!  cooldude

I'm sure that your Dad is enjoying evey minute of it as well.

I know that the time that I have spent riding with my son is very special indeed.

If you haven't taken the MSF beginners course yet please do so.  It is time and money well spent.

Thanks guys! I'll look into a motorcycle safety course. I'm not sure if I can take one yet, since I'm still only 15, but I'll call and check.

Right now I'm just going to follow dad around our neighborhood and around my grandparent's house on some back roads. Nothing with any major traffic. I'm just taking it slow. Smiley

I'll keep my witts and pay serious attention to dad's advice. I understand how dangerous it can be... so, there will be no riding without gear, I have some books to read and videos to watch, and I'll just practice, practice, practice!  cooldude

Thanks again! I'm really excited and I've been having a blast! I'll continue to post pictures and stuff. Maybe something more exciting than just circling a parking lot.  Wink
