Just keep callin' around. We found a loan for motorcycles was available through an insurance company rather than a bank. State Farm offers those, who knew.
Where there is a will there is a way.

I had to open an account with my CU...turns out they had better rates, so now I do 90% of my banking with them.

Ditto on State Farm.  I don't even have insurance with them but have used them for the last 3 cars I bought.  Just go to the closest agent, takes about 15 mins.

it's just about asking the right questions at the right banks.

If you think asking for money to buy a motorcycle is hard...try to call around and find a loan to pick up a stick built house, move it ten miles, set it back down on  a new foundation, and then remodel it.  The big banks kept saying things like, "sir, we don't loan on mobile homes," to which we'd have to reply, "this isn't a mobile home, it just happens to be a regular house that we're going to pick up and move."  Or they would say something like, "we don't cover moving houses, but we can loan if you're going to buy and remodel the house," so I'd ask if I could find the cash to pick the house up and move it if they'd give me a loan to which they'd reply, "well you can't have that loan because you'd already own the house by then."
It's all about asking the right bank (the one that will listen and figure out what you want) and letting them decide that it is a good idea.
