Has everyone had an "adjustment" curve to get used to or break in their CT ?  I am looking at the General. If it is going to take 1000 miles to settle in, I'll consider staying with a MT and go ride. I'm thinking any break-in advantage will be my 280# LB and my better half flexing them sidewalls !!

For me the "learning period" was very short, maybe 20 miles of so.... but everyone is different, My DS choice is General Altimax H rated 205/60 16

thanks, I was reading old post of 1000 miles of getting used to it, I don't have a thousand of miles to get used to it. I hoping the first day.

I replaced the front with a metzeler, rear with a hercules car tire.
Got 26K mi. from the front, rear is still going. The release agent,
and nibs, on both tires made the first day really tricky.
Figured out the handling curve in two days.

The thinking curve is 'every' day.

The 1000 miles isn't a learning curve.  It's to break the sidewalls of the tire in.  After that you can start dropping the pressure until your comfortable with the handling.  For me that was 32psi.

Like every thing else (and i ain't being no smart a$$ here) what is your skill level?? Lot of experience You should catch on real easy. Myself-it ain't bad-just different. A lot of folks have gone d/s before you and a lot of folks will go d/s after you. General ultimax h rated 205-60-16 at 44 p s i and a metz 880 front at 42 p s i. I've got close to 4000 miles on my setup and still lovin it. 2funny B T W those pressures appear to be working rather well for me and the way i ride. I installed my CT then left the bike in the garage for a week. When I came back and took it for a ride I had forgotten about the tire change.  ???

Did feel a little "oops" while expecting the bike to lean on a slight turn but it kept going straight.   Embarrassed 

I then understood that you are just "not seating on the bike... you are RIDING the bike."  Shocked

The best approach for me has been to ride it on the twisties with my upper body slightly leaning forward and deliberately (soft) pushing the bike
into the turns... Kind of like showing off but w/o the fall!  Cheesy

Once you get the drill down, it becomes second nature.

On the highway, lay back, twist the throttle and embrace the advanced emotions...  coolsmiley Cheesy Grin Cool

For me the 1st thing was hit a parking lot and take a couple of laps up and down the isles. Then about 3 miles of two lane to the interstate. Started building speed slowly and it felt so good I went ahead and opened it up, Shifted into 5th at 95 in a long sweeper passing the Honda dealer with 7 miles on the CT. I did make it a point to put a thousand miles on it before switching the other Valk to a Goodyear TT as well. I find I may actually lean the bike more in the turns than before and the stopping power now is amazing.

I'm on my 3rd CT. After a few miles on the first tire I took the bike out on a day we had a heavy rain. That was hard to do getting caught in a rain isn't like doing it on purpose. I wanted to experience it's handling in wet conditions and not be hundreds of miles from home. I was impressed. While out there in the rain I tried a few hard stops on the wet pavement. I was pleased with the results enough to be on my 3rd CT.

I think my 1st one took about 5 to 10 miles to get used to it.   Wore it out and put a DunFlop CT on it.   It lasted a little over 100 miles.    Went to Good Year and have only had them on MGM since.    I run 36# rear and 45# front in my Metzler.    This way I got lots of rubber on the ground on both ends.

Son took it for a ride with his bride, he has a chopper and no seat for her.   He said it took him to the end out our steet to get used to the Good Year.

This is his ride.

I seriously could not tell my 1st NMST was not an MT.  It is a Falken tire.  My 2nd one was a little more obvious, but it was a tire pressure issue.  The 2nd tire is the Altimax.  I like the Falken better than the Altimax.

I will look for another model of Falken should I ever wear either of these tires out.

I bought my IS last April. It took a few days to get used to the difference from my GL1100 Wing. I installed a Falken 205/65/16 on her before my first ride this spring. Seeing as it was six months since my last ride, I had to get used to her again. Took a few days, but then I was fine. I really didn't notice the CT, though it was at the back of my mind all the time.

It still does the odd thing that catches me by surprize, but it hasn't actually scared me. Nice in the rain and braking is very good, nice and strait and I haven't managed to lock it up yet.

Go for it, you can always go back and keep it as a spare for the car...

Trust me, you can lock it up.  I have the same Falkien tire.  Last spring I let myself get to close to a car that was stopped in the road, in park with the brake lights off.  At least 60' of 5" wide rubber left on the road.  With several 6" openings where I eased of to maintain control.  The front was locked also for most of that distance.  I do not believe that I would have gotten stopped with a MC tire.  But, I did lose a lot of miles off of that rear tire.
