I have a pair of BASS leather sandals that have an expanded Polyurethane outsole. This has cracked in the instep area where the sole would bend as a step is taken.
The sandals are still perfectly serviceable so I want to make a permanent repair.
Super Glue didn't work.

new sandles, closed cel foam doesn't glue because of its cell structure. you can adhere to the cells, but the bond will be the strongest point and it will just pull apart alone the bond line. for a temp fix you can try Goo (tennis shoe glue), but its temporary at best. good luck.

Thought that would be the answer. Didn't want to admit it to myself.

"Shoe Goo" is your answer.
Available at Walmart and Walgreens
Pliable, long lasting, works on Tennis Shoes, boots or other materials.
It's worth having around for other repairs as well.
AL
Or you could find a couple of Road Gators along the road and strap them on.
Good for about 100,000 miles I would think.
Had a pair made in the Phillipines, actually made from used tire tread, they lasted a long time.

My favorite pair of shoes were bought in December 1989....I love them still.....I did have them re-soled a couple of years ago and had the toe stitching repaired once.......

Like your sandals, my 35yo shower tile has seen better days. I tried replacing the failing tiles (35 or so) a few years back, but my skills are lacking, and the repair and much else is falling off the wall. So in true do-it-yourself fashion, I cleaned and dried everything and duct taped all of the failing tile together. It is now waterproof, and staying put. This might be a problem if there was a woman in the house, but there's not, and I am perfectly happy with the result, if not the look (so I keep the shower curtain closed). The whole thing needs torn out and replaced, and this will be done....... sometime.

Rapid fix http://youtu.be/bSmgEkbp5eM I do not think it is best for your sandal application...but I'll never waste 5 bucks on a tube of super glue again. This stuff is 10X more usable and last LONG TIME. no more 1 time use and throw the bottle away. It was all that held the 1 mirror on my Valk for 3+ years !

+1 on the Shoo Goo
Clean surfaces good with alcohol. That stuff has the best adhesion, flex and wear properties of any glue of its type.
I use the it for general repairs all the time.

I get 3 tubes of Super Glue from the Dollar Store for $1 and it doesn't harden in the tube after the initial use. I like the Dollar Store. I buy all my batteries there along with household cleaning products, shampoo etc etc etc.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained It DAMN sure is NOT baking powder,it is probably closer to what the commenter was smoking when they thought of that But I personally think it is just the dried glue itself ground into a powder for use a filler. I dont always use the powder but it helps to build up a 'scab' across the top of the fix and spreads the load. It does sand well but defiantly not 100% up to the marketing claims...it IS the best I have found,I keep it in the tool kit for long trips and have amazed everyone with it. Shoo Goo is probably better for your application but a 15$ tube of 3M windshield adhesive will permanently glue anything on the planet,it just hardens the whole tube once opened.

OK Thread closed. I only use the footwear in question around the house so I've done the simple fix. Duct tape rules.

Britman; It sounds like inflation is higher in your area by 5%. Our local "Dollar Store" sells everything for 95 cents! There is also a "Sandals Only" store wherein you buy the left sandal and the right one is free! :coolsmiley:i "I always tell the truth even when I lie" (Al Pacino)

Rapid Fix Rules.
I like it, where do I get some.
I think with those properties, if you had a trouble valve steam, a hole in a tire that needs that extra
bond on a plug to get you home, it would be a must have.
What about a clutch or front brake lever that has broken, it would get you home and maybe even suffice as a permanent repair.

Roadkill; I agree about the value, or lack thereof on the California dollar... ??? However, Marijuana is only taxable when it is used for medicinal purposes. Notwithstanding, the guy at the Sandal's store (who distributes it only for pleasure), he sells it "under-the -table..." No tax. No receipt... No returns on an open baggie! Bad customer service... if you ask me... I hate when that happens!
