i am converting my valk to a trike. the instructions say to remove the kickstand and kickstand switch, and to zip tie the switch in the up position.
now i aint one to say this sounds mickey mouse, but wouldn't it be better to cut the wires and solder them together ? thereby getting rid of the switch altogether ??
any electric gurus out there ?

thats a real fancy schematic. too bad it makes no sense at all to me. my question is, can you just cut the switch out of the system and solder the wires together and the bike will start ?

according to the schematic that will work. There should be 3 wires, a solid green and a green with a white stripe that would be connected to supply power to the appropriate places, and a yellow wire with a black stripe that would be capped off.

here's the interlocks.. http://www.rattlebars.com/valkfaq/schematics/rpage12.htmlthe yellow is power for the sidestand indicator bulb in the headlight hsg., it lights when the sidestand is down by grounding through the green wire, the green/white will ground to the green when the sidestand is up. - this provides ground for the ignition. The interlocks are safeties to prevent you from riding away with the sidestand down, starting the bike in gear with the clutch engaged etc. Connect the green and green/white and the sidestand safety will be out of the picture. You should be able to tape off the yellow just so that it can't short to ground. You could also use the yellow as a keyed source to control an accessory like driving lights if you run it through a switch you would be able to tell when the relay is energised by the small light (sidestand indicator) coming on in the headlight bucket. You would have to provide a new ground for this to work.

yeah, i am painting the new trike a really bright yellow, even brighter than canary yellow. so far just the paint, primer, and clear have cost over $600.00 the reducer (thinner) for the urethane is $25.00 a qt. the paint is $150.00 a qt.
holy crap ! if i charged labor and material out it would cost well over $1,500.00 to paint a bike and thats just one color.
that would be a ton of wiring.
anyway what you said to do worked, many thanks.
gone rodeo'n
