Installed a Dunlop Direzza DZ101 last night. 41 psi to start. I started with 40PSI (side wall says 51 is max). Just didn't feel right, so I dropped it to 35 for the ride to work today. Any input from other darkside riders?

I run a GoodYear Triple Tread at 36#
Your DunFlop, has a stiffer sidewall, so you are going to have to play with the PSI till it suits ya.

I have the general ultimax 205-60-16 speed rated h. From install to now aprox 4000 miles 44 P S I and liking what i feel. I'm on an i/s with a lot of sheet in the bags. Feels bad how??? Did you follow re-install procedures and torquing sequence PROPERLY?? Are the shock bushings good or shot to sheet?? How good of shape is front tire?? Pressure in front tire?? If you had front wheel off did you follow procedures and torquing sequences?? We be guessing in the dark with out sufficent data on your part. Hope some of this helps. RIDE SAFE.

You just installed it. Takes approximately 1000 miles to break in the sidewalls. Leave it at 40psi until you've broke in the sidewalls then start dropping the pressure. Until then it will have a tendency to follow ruts.

Goodyear triple tread here. 26-28 one up, 32-35 two up. On my second tire. First one lasted over 25k and was half worn when I took it off to powdercoat my wheels and new bearings. Play with it till you like it.

I mounted my first car tire after returning from InZane 2 in Kentucky. At first I ran 40 and ate the middle out of that tire. I now run 35 and wear is even across the tire. I'm doing good to get 11,000 miles out of a rear but that's still about twice what I was getting with a motorcycle tire. Everytime my bikes leave the garage I check the psi in the tires...Front Avon ( 42 ) Rear Fuzion ZRi 205/55/16 ( 35 ) .

Solo; GoodYear-TripleTread 33 psi Avon front 42psi Two-up; GoodYear-TripleTread 36psi Avon front 42psi I started at 42psi in the rear, based upon information I had gathered. If that feeling and ride was the end result, it would have been the end of Darkside for me. I brought a tire pressure guage with me and went for a ride and played with it, back and forth on the same road to see if I could notice any difference. I did, and have adjusted accordingly over the years. I don't care for the characteristics of the tire over 36psi regardless of weight/gear/passenger. By the same token, I don't care for the mushy ride under 32psi. Kind of feels like I'm getting a flat. I found "MY SWEET-SPOT" I have found everyone is a little different on this topic, hope you can use some of the information you gather here as a guide to find your own sweet-spot. Have fun with it

I have a General Altimax, and always run 32-33 lbs, it is now worn smooth in the middle after less than 18,000 miles, I'm putting on a new one today and will run 26-28 lbs in this one.

I like what Glenh wrote...He's wore out his first one and replacing it and adjusting accordingly, It's a process. His post addresses adjusting according to how it's wearing also. That's important (with any tire) All C/T brands run a little different on a M/C, we are all running diferent brands, heights, widths and sidewall strenghs. It would be good information for you to see if anyone else is running your exact tire and size too. Best of luck, Enjoy

205/65/16 Mich Hydroedge. Ran 40, 35, 32 psi with HORRIBLE low speed handling. Dropped to 28 psi, WAAAY better. Still not MC tire type handling but a vast improvement. Tire brand does make a difference!

I ran 28 32 35 38 40... I like 40... It's a personal preference. You're preference may change as the sidewalls break-in ... Give it 1000+ miles.

There were some remarks regarding wear to a car tire and related that to tire pressure in the same tire and also to different tires.
The sum total was that regardless of pressure in the car tires, they all still wear out the center of the tread.
The thinking was that the center of the tire is most always in contact with the road while the outer edges are in contact with the road less under the same conditions.

I've ran about 6 different darkside tires. To muc air center wears out not enough air ride suffers. I've happy with 36-38 lbs.

Wow, if you were my HD buddies, that would be all of twice a year...but it sure would LOOK pretty... (sorry, Willow - couldn't resist a LITTLE jab. That being said, I have the Altimax also, and have settled on about 42 lbs. I have seen them all over the place, from around 35, to 45. I think it's what feels "right" to each individual. I had a bad gauge, and thought I had ~42, but it was something like 8-10 lbs off, so I was in truth, running around 33-34. that was way too low for me, and when I figured it out, and got the pressure up, I was a LOT happier. I have almost 2,000 miles on it, this year so far, and liking it better and better every day. Which is good, because I figure I only have about 23,000 miles left on this tire...
