Actor Peter Falk, best known for his role in “Columbo” has died at 83 years old. His family released a statement confirming his passing. "Falk died peacefully at his Beverly Hills home in the evening of June 23, 2011,” the statement read. During a 2009 hearing to place an ailing Falk in a conservatorship, Dr. Stephen Read testified that following a string of dental surgeries in 2007, the actor slipped into dementia and that his conditions eventually worsened to the point that he could no longer remember his iconic and recognized role (with four Emmy wins) as Lieutenant Columbo. His wife Shera Falk was put in control of his personal care and affairs. Falk was the first actor in Hollywood to be nominated for an Oscar and an Emmy in the same year.

If you like good Peter Falk movies, "The Thing About My Folks" is a great father/son movie and funny.

Wasn't he charged with murder or something? Maybe I'm thinking of someone else... You are thinking about Robert Blake ...." Beretta " . Despite being acquitted on criminal charges of murdering his wife, "Beretta" star Robert Blake was found guilty by a civic jury and ordered him to pay $30 million to the children of Bonnie Bakely. After deliberating for eight days, the vote came back 10-2. Blake left the courtroom without commenting on the verdict. None of Bakely's four children appeared for the verdict, though one did speak out by phone. Bakely's daughter, Holly, said she was pleased with the verdict and was ready to move on. While Blake claims he is broke, the children's attorney, Eric Dubin, says he has been given no reason to believe that Blake won't pay the damages.

Yeah I liked Columbo and he was in some good movies too. Yep Peter Faulk and James Arness went pretty close together. Now Mat Dillion I guess was one of my very favorites and had a long 20 year run from 1955-1975. I don't feel he or James Garner really got the recognition they deserved- he was also one of my favorites. John Wayne turned down Gunsmoke but recommended James Arness and he also turned it down but reconsidered! Gonna miss em

My favorite Peter Falk movie was "The Great Race". Funny as all hell and a great cast - Tony Curtis, Natalie Wood, Keenan Wynn and Jack Lemmon.

He was a native of Ossining and graduated Ossining HS in 1945 or therabouts
After he lost an eye to cancer he kept failing screen tests The heads would say for that price I could get an actor with 2 eyes...
He actually bought the raincoat he used in the show which was replaced after 25 years
RIP
Thanks for the heads up
