Thinking about mounting a Stebel under the fairing of my I/S.  Anybody done this or have any ideas?

TIA,

I don't think you'd have room.... And it would muffle it a bit......

Have one in each pod...... Nice and loud!

My stebel is mounted inside the right POD......  there should be room in there if you don't have the lights.

Don't have them currently but hope to have them in by the end of the year.  Don't want to put the horn in there and have to move it later.

Should be room up there in the fairing, but how much will it cut down on the horns effective volume? Also how will it feel too you as the rider sitting behind that fairing and most of the sound will be directed back at you I would think..

Is it the black one or the more shiny chrome(ish) one?

Black = under swing arm or inside pod or fairing.
Chrome = original horn location or on either side of bike near the petcock or key switch area.
That is just my opinion and we all know what opinions are worth.

I have mine mounted underneath the left side cover.  It's still plenty loud, so I don't think it would be muffled too much by the fairing.

Hey TB, most of us don't read the subject line on a response.  You should put that in the body of your post.

That being said I know a couple of guys that have two Fiamm horns under their I/S fairings.  They're pretty dayum loud.

I have plans for a belly tank.  That and the pod lights is why I specifically asked about under the fairing.

(Thunderbolt) Sorry about that like was said I did not read your modified subject line, (slack has been cut)LOL... Cheesy

(X Ring) That does take up 2 of 5 locations, that are normally possible, if it's an I/S and you dont have the stock CB you could mount under the trunk. Never thought about that one before, do some of my best thinking on the throne ya know crazy2 2funny. Probably plenty of room under the fairing especially if you don't have a cruise control unit and a full size stereo amplifier up under there and a few other tid bits of wiring like transformers for HID lights and the associated wires for thst stuff.

If ya gotta sit in there, it's either let your mind wander while you look at gun or motorcycle porn or stare at the wall.

It's completely stock under the fairing.  I might be able to put it vertically between the triple trees next to the right fork and make a mount to bolt it to the upper tree.  I'll mock that up tomorrow with some zip ties and see I run into problems.

Why not put it on show.

Get yourself the chrome version of the Stebel and mount it beside the petcock where it can be seen. It will fill up a space that is crying out for some chrome.

I made a simple bracket from a piece of steel, 1.75 inches long x .75 inches wide x .1 inch thick. Drilled two 3/16 inch holes 1.25 inches apart. It is mounted on the engine hanger under the lower of two bolts. The relay is beneath the seat (close to the battery). I had to released the petrol tank so as to extend the wiring back from the front of the bike.  It looks and works great.

Because I happen to have a black one and I don't want it there.  I have a chrome one on my Tourer in that exact location and the chrome is peeling on the compressor.
