My neighbor lady started dating a drug dealer/addic. Her husband came home from a hunting trip one day too early and caught then in bed. Her ex was the nicest guy and my son use to play with their kids all the time, but now I don’t want him going over there since the new “lover” has brought in some unsavory characters into the neighborhood.
I never use to lock my “shed”, even though I’ve got thousands of dollars of tools in it. We’ve got a security system on the house, only use it for the fire alarm but I’ve been using it more often since this yahoo moved in next door.
This jerk watches me as I ride by her house, he rides a crotch rocket, and I just feel uneasy leaving the fat girl alone and unsecured in the garage when we’re not home on the weekends.
So, I was thinking of putting a hidden “kill” switch somewhere on the cycle that will disable it, something only I know about. I was thinking of a hidden N/C reed switch that would energize a relay if a magnet is removed, opening the starter wire circuit, or something like that. I could put the magnet behind my MP3 player, since I ALWAYS remove my MP3 player when I park it. Just a thought……
Does anyone have any other ideas?? Please share your thoughts, or what have you done to disable your cycle when it’s home and alone??

Have you thought about taking the key out of it?
Buddy of mine had another switch in the saddle bag. Pop it open, insert key, turn it on and go. He also had a gas line shutoff in this line. Kind of like the Dan-Marc.
This key off, ya no get no gas.

Fortunately for you, your state legislature just voted to approve one of the nation's strongest Right-to-Carry bills, by solid bipartisan margins. Senate Bill 93, which was strongly backed by NRA, now goes to Governor Scott Walker (R) for his expected signature. Hopefully your Governor will make it a done deal when it comes across his desk. Then you have the real hidden kill switch option But I think key removal and steering lock in the shed should suffice.... since that guy you are concerned about is a crotch rocket guy.... those are much lighter than the fat lady ya know... so he couldn't handle her I would imagine. I might be more concerned for the thousands of dollar of tools... the things that are easily picked up and taken/sold for cash. Get a good shed lock, motion light, alarm.

and a Remington pump loaded with 000 I keep 3 positioned in several places in the house. Started this after my shed was burglarized. And I've had an alarm on MAGNUM since soon after I bought it.

It might be better if you folks had this conversation offline and private, rather that publishing your ideas. And share it via email by request or invitation.
I would really rather this information not be public.

Put an alarm and motion sensor light on the shed. Plus you could put an alarm on the Valk.

here's a few ideas...other than upgrading the alarm in your garage with motion sensor or adding an alarm with ignition immobilizer to your bike (I have the Scorpio...very expensive but top of the line protection)... http://www.motorcycleanchor.com/products/anchor.htmlhttp://lockitt.com/lockdown.htmthese would be very effective and you don't need to modify your bike.

Pete is exactly right! It looks like everybody has been conversing with each other on here for so long they feel like they're having a private conversation in the back yard by the grill. So you get online here in a forum that is wide open for public consumption and discuss in detail how to rig up "hidden secret switches, traps, and plans to keep one's next door neighbor from stealing their stuff. Ya might want to re-think how you share this information. You might be sharing it with your next door neighbor!

My question was meant to mean something along the lines of "do you think it would be a good idea to share your security measures here with all your friends"? In other words, and in my humble opinion, the original topic you refer to probably shouldn't have been posted here in the first place... For security reasons. Don't you think it would have been safer if he had asked people he knows personally through private messages?

Let me allay the concerns some have with a crapbag actually researching how you have your Valk wired up as to steal it by checking into your posts here or elsewhere on the net.
Only the pros do any kind of research before pulling off high-dollar crimes. I'm talking upper 5 and lower 6 figure stuff. Unfortunately our Valks don't fall into that category.
The ones looking for motorcycles, cars, tools, money, pills, TVs, or whatever, are the prior mentioned crapbag, druggie, opportunist criminals. If it ain't bolted down, they are taking it. Get the gun, get the alarm, lock it up... you really don't have to worry that they are trying to check into your web-surfing habits to discover your hidden kill switch location... They just move on to the next person's stuff to steal... they don't have the time... they need to get their next bindle/rock/pill - whatever.

Thugs like him don't go around stealing motorcycles, they steal TOOLS. You can't take a stolen bike to the pawn shop to get money for an eight-ball, but he can take tools.
Take the key out of the bike and lock the handlebars. Forget the kill switch idea. You are more likely to have a problem yourself getting stranded somewhere, than it stopping a thieft.
If the dude is smart enough to hotwire around your key switch, and that determined, he'll bypass the kill switch anyway.
Get a German Shepard and teach him karate.

Well, that straightens all that out! Now I feel really stupid! I don't know what I was thinking and I apologize to everybody for suggesting that you shouldn't post security measures on an open public forum on the internet! Actually, why did I even stick my nose into somebody else's conversation anyway? As you were. This post is meant to be taken in jest.

Jest! I love that game... no, waite, that's joust... I agree that there is no real need to put on a kill switch, I wouldn't even bother with an alarm. shut it off, lock the fork, take the key with you instead of leaving it in the house or put any keys left behind somewhere besides on key hooks by the door. That way if they do break into the house, it doesn't get them anywhere as far as the bike or anything else is concerned. You could also through some old keys to stuff you don't have anymore and unused padlocks on some keyrings and hang them up. It may prevent them from looking elsewhere for missing keys. If you really wanted to, maybe get a disc lock.
No matter what you do, if they really want it, they can get it, so don't waste your time/money.

+1 on the tools. I would worry more about the small, carry away stuff than the Valk. In the more than three years I have been almost a daily reader here on the Valk forums, I cannot remember a SINGLE instance of someone reporting their Valk stolen.
Get a good lock and motion detector on the shed, and make sure it has a light on all the time on the entrance door.
Also, when are you going to go riding with me again? Had a GREAT time going around the lake!

Whats your neighbor selling? Kidding aside. Lock it if your worried. If he really wants to take it he will no matter what you do. Cant ya hook up the garage to the house security? If you got sec signs in the yard he may think the garage is secure to. Surprised your buddy didnt shot him when he caught them together. I left the x's dudes face all bloody.
