I work in the maintenance department and sometimes I’m asked to repair things that require a simple dab of glue.  A lady asks me to repair a seal on a safety door to keep the Plexiglas from falling out and she asks me “do you have any silicone?”  and being the fat, smart ass that I am, I reply “NOPE, THESE BABIES ARE REAL!!” as I clutch my man boobs and bounce them with pride.

I thought she was going to pee her pants she was laughing soo much, but later I thought that if she wanted, she could file a sexual harassment case!!  She most likely won’t, but you never know, some people are funny that way.

I would think that as long as you didn't bounce "Her" boobs you're safe.  Evil

Too funny! Got a chuckle out of it, but....yes. Absolutely, an independent reviewer would see it as sexual harassment.
A bit of self-deprecating humor, no biggie.
And, if she decided that she didn't like it after all, she should let you know first and foremost.

Picture it, if you will.... uglystupid2

I'm just trying to get the job done; I ask for supplies, as required, and I get a (gender/sexual/yada-yada) response.
Why did I laugh, instead of telling him to cease such behavior? Well, he's a man, scared me, thought that a chuckle would end it, he's worked here 86 years longer than I.
When I got home, it all came crashing down! Was he implying that my breasts need implants? Why?
What does sex have to do with doing my work? My Mom had breast cancer and needed implants. Nothing funny there. I was so depressed! I was hiding the depression with smiles and chuckles, because I need the income from my job! But I dreaded going to work or, worse, having to ask HIM for sealant and stuff! How could I do my job, now?
My husband could no longer put up with my fears and left me, taking our dog, our pickup truck and our Valkyrie bike. My therapist urged me to........

Well, ya get the picture. Been there, seen it time and again, absolutely NO humor in some starched hearing 2 years later.

Having said that, I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Light-hearted banter takes place in workplaces everywhere, all the time, and makes them better for it. But, the 'wrong' person at the 'wrong' moment.... Evil

Right at the moment, no. But by 2050 or so, it will be. 58% of bikes will be imports by then and Harleys will be a (protected) minority.

By military standards, No. you asked for nothing in return for a sexual favor and I doubt your her supervisor. It could be considered inappropriate.  If she had told you she finds that offensive and you did it again, then your guilty of harassment .  If you had ask here if she could spare some of hers, then you are borderline.

I'm a maintenance tech also. A while back I held the door open for a female manager who was entering the plant from the same hallway I had just exited. She thanked me and I told her that it's just standard operating procedure for me. But, if she ever raised any sexual harassment charges against me for holding the door open for her. I'd claim I did it out of respect for her age, not her gender. Grin She was amused, not angry thankfully!

We have to take classes to deal with them, they dont have to take classes to deal with us.
I hate the fact paranoia gets in the way of honest humor.

Sexual harrassment will rear it's ugly head (no pun intended) when the other person perceives it as such regardless how you or someone else may consider the behaviof as innocuous.  The paradigm of peception is a very effective weapon which the unscrupulous will use to victimize others for their own gain.  It puts you in the spot of having to justify your behavior against another's perception.  Just my 2 cents.....

After one of our sexual harassment training sessions one of the foremen asked the instructor if you were to confront a female employee and the f word was continually used, could that be construed as sexual harassment.  The instructor couldn't believe the question and said emphatically YES!.   The foreman then said  I knew I should have fired that b!tch.

The lady you were talking to may not have a problem with it, BUT, if someone else overheard what you said and didn't like it, and reports it.......your DONE!   This happened to a very good friend of mine.  They fired his ass so fast it made his head spin.  In these cases, you are Guilty until proven innocent.  And sad to say, the verdict is always Guilty because they (management) won't take anymore chances with the offender for fear of a law suit.    coolsmiley

Not so, Al.  Sexual harassment, by current definition, can be any speech or behavior which creates "a hostile work environment" for the alleged victim.  A single initial comment, however, cannot stand on its own as an offense as there is a requirement for the victim to express his or her discomfort.

I wonder if one of our certified legal minds could offer an opinion or if that would be giving legal advice in conflict his license.
