If I had a choice of standard or interstate, I'd definitely go state.  I have both, state is much nicer on the long trips.  The standard is fun around town though.

Thanks, Skin.  My thoughts, too.  Which is why I'm looking at the standard.

That's a great looking bike but the price is ridiculous unless money is not an issue for you. I'd consider $6K but wouldn't personally go higher.

It is a good looking Valk... but they have it priced for what you would expect to pay for a well cared for I/S.  You should not pay that much for a standard or even a tourer.  Git em dowwwwwwn!!!!

Thanks for all the thoughts, advice, & even opinions!  Wink

Two of the guys in the TEXus group checked it out yesterday.  Their report is at the bottom of this thread:  http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,29910.msg272686.html#msg272686

I'd be interested in y'all's thoughts, too.  Wish we could combine these threads somehow...

I recently made mention of a valk at Crystal lake Honda that was similar and less money. You are not that far from them, and you could fingerprint the bike. Someone also added a ph oto to the post.

Well I read the other thread responses and can comfortably say that giving them anything close to their asking price would be crazy.

How do you figure, Anvil?

They're asking $8200, including taxes, etc.

They're including delivery from Ft. Worth to Champaign, IL.  Say that's $500 +-.

I googled only a couple of the extras on the bike.  The bags ($500) plus the shield ($325 including mounting kit) come out to $825.

Let's say the rest of the upgrades are worth, oh... $250.

So now we're at a $6625 bottom line for a '99 Standard with pristine paint from a reputable dealer.

I'm new here, but everything I see on eBay, CycleTrader and in the VRCC classies is in that same ballpark.

Hit me back.

If that's an out the door price and includes delivery, I'd say its the for you. Go for it and don't look back. Wish you many happy miles. Dave

Whose taxes ? Tx. ?? or your State.   Roll Eyes

I would ask for a price that you take care of of other expense, shipping, taxes in your State when you transfer bike into your name.   Undecided  Bottom line is not always the best line.

from a dealer with a stellar reputation

Means nothing if you are out of State. Roll Eyes

Good luck.

I wouldn't say it means "nothing" but since your transaction is gonna be one and done then it's a lot less of a draw. I'm not so sure how they got a "stellar reputation" by asking one helluva lot more than the bike is worth either.

Here's the rep:

http://feedback.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=ultimate-motors&&_trksid=p4340.l2560&iid=140566872360&sspagename=VIP:feedback&ftab=FeedbackAsSeller

I don't think it's any more or less important if they're local to me.  Reputation and customer service/satisfaction is crucial in any buying decision I make.  And yes, I'd pay a bit more for that peace of mind.  Not that everyone should or would...

Before you commit to buying that Valk, you reeeeeeeally owe it to youself to check out THIS Black and Silver Tourer.......

http://fortmyers.craigslist.org/lee/mcd/2467052731.html

I saw it the other day lookin' around C/L.  It's more bike than the one you're lookin' at......and at a great price.  I'm sure that there's someone in that area that could go and take a look see for ya.
