I have fork oil leaking on the left fork up through the threads of the fork bottom. Now how do you like that one! The fork bottoms twist off and there is on odd shaped o-ring in there that was broke in half. Honda does not sell the o-ring. They want me to buy the entire fork assembly! I have tried teflon tape, pipe dope, still leaks.

An irrigation hose (I know, not a Valkyrie fork) was leaking in Carolyn's garden last week...

I took the connection apart, and there was a Oring, busted in two...

We went over to Lowe's where they have four or five big drawers of Orings in
all kinds of different sizes, metric and std...

Quickly found one that looked just right and now, no more leaks...

It could be a standard packing (o-ring) but might not.

If you absolutely can't find the part then you could use a fuel resistant sealant. But it sounds like it might be blowing out under pressure when the fork compresses. I've seen o-rings in landing gear do this before, usually when it was not seated correctly or the valve it was used for was not torqued correctly.

I thought he was talking about a seal between the chromed slider and the cast fork bottom that holds the axle.

#24 screws into the lower axle holder and there is an o-ring to seal the threads.

The picture shows one item, you are saying the lower just unscrews from the fork tube?

How would you go about unscrewing it them?

I was unawares of that too. I guess that's how they chrome the axle holders.

How would you go about unscrewing it them?

I think there's a hole in the slider towards the to into which you can insert a punch to hold the sliver while you take the fitting off. Or (in the case of my ZX7) you just put the slider in a vise with some rubber jaws and the bottoms come off pretty easily with a little heat.

Yeah I wouldn't use loctite either. You mention Permatex which reminded me of something. They make an RTV/gasket compound called "The Right Stuff" and it works exceptionally well. http://www.permatex.com/products/Automotive/automotive_gasketing/gasket_makers/auto_Permatex_the_Right_Stuff_Gasket_Maker.htm

I would use something like Desoto P/S870 but it's aviation sealant so it can be hard for regular people to get and it's expensive. I have ready access to it but TRS should work well also.

Take the broken o-ring to Zatkoff they are the largest o-ring and seal provider around...if they don't have it they will get it.

Thank you for the suggestions. It is part #24 that is leaking from the axel holder. I am going to try Zatkoff. Next may be some permatex product. Got to get this done before INZANE. Thanks Again.
