Hiked up the Barr Trail about 20 years ago, from Manitou Springs.  Fourteen miles, 7,000 ft of vertical.  The wife smoked one last cigarette at the top then quit cold turkey.  I puffed another 2 years before I quit.  It was interfering with hang gliding.  On the hike - we got there in time to catch the last cog train down.  About a third of the way up - some guy jogged past us.  Half way up - he was jogging back down.  I stopped him - said "where'd you go?"  He said "to the top."  I said "I hate you."
