Keep the shinny side up and rubber side down!

Baton Rouge, La.

« on: April 21, 2009, 02:53:52 PM »

I just picked up a new Riken Raptor ZR (205/55-16) for the fat lady. I am currently running a worn out Mastercraft Avenger UHP (205/55-16). The Riken looks to be wider than the Mastercraft, but of course the Mastercraft is still on the rim. I tried to slide the Riken in place after removing the wheel from bike and it will not fit between the final drive and the swing arm. Is anyone out there running a Riken Raptor 205/55-16, or does anyone know if it will fit after mounting on rim? I can't find a site with the cross section specs on this tire. Don't want to mount it before I find out if it will fit. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanx,
Ride safe and keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down.

It should be no problem.  When it is mounted and aired, it may be more narrow due to a narrow rim and air pressure.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

I concur. If its the same size, then its the same size. Mine looked huge before it was mounted.

Can't compare/measure an unmounted tire. They change substantially on the rim and inflated.

Just in case you need a tad more room on the driveshaft side, the tube has a top and bottom doubler that you can remove with an aircutter with no ill effects and it will give you about 1/4 in more clearance.
