This week a retired Air Force Lt colonel here in New Haven died. He, and his family are well known.
He was 78 and served in Desert Storm and other wars.
One of his sons, Geoff, is the New Haven City judge. The other son, Craig, served as a detective sergeant in the police department for many years.
i was about to go to the showing at the funeral home for Stan, the Dad ,when I got an email from the mayor letting me know that Stan's son, the detective, passed away due to an instantly fatal heart attack. He was in his 50's. Since we are one big family community, the head of the EMS got to Craig's home even before the ambulance and immediately started treatiment, It made no difference.
I went to the funeral home for the showing for the dad but most of the family wasn't there. This has got to be a real blow for the family. I know most of them.
