Cleaning the carbs and pulled the pilot screws. Some of them have a spring and a small metal washer. Others have the spring and an oring. None of them have both. Im guessing whoever was in the carbs before me had a few extra parts. When I got the bike many years ago, it ran like a raped ape. Do the washers all need to be the same? TIA  Chuck

each should have all three pieces, brass washer, brass spring, and o-ring.

see #6 in the diagram to show the order they are installed.  You can buy the viton orings on ebay from redeyetech, but the brass washer, spring, and pilot are only sold as a set.

Sometimes the oring will break apart and stick inside along with the little brass washer.  You might get lucky and when you spray the cleaner they will flush out.  Just make sure to have a white towel or pillow case to catch the parts as these are incredibly small and tend to disappear easily.

You need to replace all the recommended parts.

Another question, All the pilot jets were out 2 1/4 turns except one. It was 1 3/4 turns out. should I make them the same?  Thanks again.

yes, they should be the same....I set mine at 2 1/4 turns out.  I have stock jets and live at sea level (give or take a few hundred feet).

I found one of mine looked as if it had burned the o-ring, the spring was brittle, and the washer was unusable. Used a spring from an old junker carb set I had, and got lucky when a tech at the stealer gave me a washer he had in his collection. Used Redeye's o-rings and all is good. Using 38 slows now with the pilots set at 1 3/4 out.

You need to look closely into the tube the pilots were removed from. Often when removing them, all the parts won't come out with the screw.

A lot of good info above.. All the pieces should go back in, they may still be there almost ready to come out.. As said, just be careful.. If you can't get the parts individually[knowing Honda prices] , then a mechanic,,errr,, technician,, just may a bunch of them hanging around and will give you some.. With original #35 jets I'd set the pilots all at 2 1/4 turns.. I've tried setting them every way imaginable and have the burnt fingers to prove it, 2  1/4 is about as good as it gets..  A couple other things I do is to cut a slot in them for a normal screwdriver and add a dab [technical term] of never-sieze to the threads..

you have a rare dealer that would actually have these in stock.  Good luck with the remaining work....

I certainly hope that is a misprint on the o-ring price.  $14.91 ea???   Makes Redeye's $6 and change for all six a real bargain.

it looks like item #2 is a gasket "set" with bowl gasket, drain oring, pilot oring, etc.  Still mighty pricey for a few pieces of rubber.  The redeyetech kit is a bargain.
