It took me to realize that the big mounting bolts for the kick stand were not 'fixed' to the cross member as I'm loosening the nuts? I thought they were welded to the cross member. Some hints...lactic acid build up in arms, right shoulder receiving rug burns from wrenching on card board, lotta lube and some cuss words. Winner gets beverage of their choice.

When a man asks "Guess How Long" it makes the mind wander a bit. I had to read the rest of the post to satisfy my curiosity.

Took me about 10 minutes before I realized it when I was installing the belly tank on my Tourer. Marty

It took me a good 10 minutes to realise 'this is the sidestand!!', and almost dropped the bike in the process! Once she was on jack stands, took me about 5 min to make your discovery, and 15 min to get a wrench zip tied to the crossmember cause I couldn't get my fat fingers to hold the wrench on top and run the ratchet on the bottom.
I guess 16.5 minutes. Fred.

I'm guessing 1/2 an hour... I'm also starting to see that this is a common occurrence... now I don't feel so dumb for making the same mistake!!

Let me think....
The last time I did something that involved a lot of lubrication, getting brush burns, and then looseing my nuts....let's see...about 25 minutes.
Oh, I'm sorry, you were talking about your kickstand.

22 minutes. When that kind of thing starts to happen it means you need to learn some new cuss words because the old ones have stopped working. I'm thinking of learning a new language to see if it helps.

??? If I read your question correctly, how long largely depends on your strength and body mass... ??? If you're on the Beefy Side, the answer is; under 5 seconds. If on the Porky Side; then 5.17 seconds... give or take 14 minutes. I figured the time as... from the instant when you started loosening your nuts. ???
