My first guess is that the bike went down with his leg snapping off like a cheap barbie doll.
Who knows, though.

Though it is reflex, don't think putting that right leg down is going to help things very much.

I've saved rear end slides with a leg out before. Never on a bike that big though.

Two things.

first its a VTX........I have always heard they cant lean without digging a hole.  He really wasnt leaning all that much, he must have lowered that thing.....

second, it looked like to me he was doing around 8-10 mph.  he might not have had enough speed to carry through the curve and the bike just dropped down onto the frame or the pipes and that would be why he could "lift it" It may not have had any sideways force to put him into a "low side" at such a low rate of speed

Yes a M109 is what it is.

Luck Yes.

But probably doing about 30 at least.

One thing I noticed is he never freaked out, kept riding the bike and trying things the whole time.

Most would have quit cleanly and wrecked nastily(IS THAT A WORD).

I had both front and back take off on a used Valk Tourer.

I instinctivley(MOTOCROSS IN MY BLOOD) slammed down a foot to the pavement.

Although the boot never contacted the pavement, it did however contact the foot peg on the way down,

footpeg nailed the asphalt and shot the bike back into the upright and therefore traction position.

The braintrust that I bought it from tried to make the stock tires look better by applying Armorall to the sidewalls.

Never a good idea.

Was it skill or luck? we will never know.

But there is one thing that would be hard to dispute, if he had not been posing for the camera with the thumbs up, he probably would not have mis-read that turn, and most likely would not have put himself in that position to begin with.

I know when I have been in precarious situations it has normally been because I was day dreaming or sight seeing and not paying attention to the roadway.

Jim, I won't dispute your comment about the skrewing up while showing off, but the GIF is 2 different curves.  There are shadows in the second part where there are none in the first part.
He was "posing" in the first part, but I don't see his hands leave the bars on the second portion of the slide show.

Just an observation.  Smiley

Hayhauler,

You are correct, I went back and watched it again, it is definitely two different curves,  the tree line and the shadows are different.

Good catch.
