Is that your place ? I remember when I drove out to Red Bluff, California I cut though Kansas and saw miles and miles of sunflowers.Good to hear about the bees I don't think we have near the honey bees that was around here years ago.

That's a field in the Clemson forest, I drove you and Wimp and... that guy from Mississippi  Wink ... past there, and there
were probably way-past-their-prime sunflowers there then, or maybe it was already plowed up... but these came out just a few
days ago.... one day, no flowers, next day, a couple, next day, like you see there... on both sides of the road, 15 or 20 acres of them...
a lot of the bees looked like honey bees, and also some of those black bees that bore holes in your house trim... they are important
pollinators too...

There's a short window of opportunity... it took just a few days for all the flowers to come out...
they track the sun, so when you're standing in the middle of all of it, it looks pretty cool to see
all the flowers pointed in the same direction... after a few weeks, the middle of the flowers turns
black - that's the sunflower seeds we're all used to... pretty soon after that, it's just fodder for
wildlife... lots of bow hunters in those woods not long after that...

The tornado must of blown some sunflower seeds into my yard, I have had several popping up in some areas of our property. The finches love them as do the bumble bees....like Joe said, I haven't seen a honey bee around here in several years
