If I put a 12oz bottle of Techron in a full tank, is that too much? Or 6oz to a tank for a Std.

Thanks

No, it will be fine.  Dump it in, run it some, then let it set for a day or two with it in the carbs.  Then, run it out.

Doesn't the package say "treats up to 12 gallons"?  How much does your tank hold?  Five or six?  Seems like half a bottle is what they recommend.

I put too much Sea Foam in a bike one time.  It ran poorly as the stuff isn't gas.  Best to follow the label.

Good luck with it.

Yes it is a 12oz bottle and I've always put 1/2 a bottle in other bikes for a 5+ gallon tank but was FI. But I have read many posts here where people put the whole bottle in. It seems too much might be bad on rubber and diaphrams? crazy2

Well, it reads like Mr. MP had no troubles using the whole bottle.  Would that be more effective than two treatments at 6 oz. per tank?  I don't know.  My Father-in-Law used to say "If in doubt, read the instructions".

you're asking for an awful lot!!!!   Grin

Pluggy ole buddy.    How much SeaFoam did you put in?    I've put TWO (2) full cans in my Tourer a couple of times and it did not effect the sound, running, starting or anything.        It did however clean up my low speed jet problem.

PS:  242K+ miles and still running the 35's.

My Father-in-Law used to say "If in doubt, read the instructions".
And if that doesn't help, try following them.

Seriously, I had great results using 1/2 bottle of techron, driving the bike 20mph in 5th gear with the choke on for 5 minutes.

It completely got rid of a low speed miss and improved low RPM performance.

I toss a full "treats 12 gal" bottle into a full tank on my standard once every spring.  Periodically throughout the year I'll put in the recommended amount as general maintenance.  Have not had a clogged jet problem in the 11 years I have owned the bike.  Whether that is due to the Techron or not, no way to tell for sure, but it hasn't damaged it any.

I don't know if a partially clooged jet is even my problem but it can't hurt. To recap; She runs great at low speeds but at hwy speeds I notice at 75 giving her WOT she is real sluggish but if I back off the throttle a hair -she will start picking up speed. It takes a lot longer to hit 100. I have staightened my vent hose and opened my cap and still the same. It never done it till it hit the 90's but don't run hot. I hear a lot about low speed jets clog but do high speed jets cog??

Thanks

Next time the tank is off, check the fuel strainer above the petcock, might want to purchase one in advance as I hear they are somewhat fragile.  Also if you have an inline filter get rid of it.  Sounds like you aare starving for fuel at high speed/loads.

You are right, she must be starving for fuel because I failed to mention she sounds great. No skipping, sputtering...nothing. BTW, Bike only has 10k and tank has never been off so the vent hose isn't kinked

This can also be the symptom of a failing petcock diaphragm or petcock vac line.

Techron is a fuel system cleaner.  Some feel it better then sea foam (I am one).  I am not familiar with the Lucas product.  You can get it at Autozone.  You can also get it in Chevron gas, if you live near a station.

The one Lucas product that has received the accolades is "Regane"

Lucas make a plethora of fuel system additives.
