leaving for 17 days , maryland headed for west coast , 70 w,up 74,to 80w,29n,90west,by way of sturgis, big horn mountains, beartooth pass, on way to portland org, down thru big sur thate the coast of cali, then back into utah,colorado .. awwww cant wait west bound and down ..

 Eric sent you a PM. sounds like you have all the good spots picked out. Stop for lunch at Nepenthe Restaurant just south of Big Sur. Check out the waterfall at the beach near Julia Pfeiffer State Park right in the same area. Estes Park in CO, Zion Nat Park are both great also. Yosemite is one of my favorites. Wish I could join you. Post pics. Will be heading over some of the same area a few weeks later.

Hey little guy, have a great trip! If ya need help here in Ind, let me know.
Id stay off I-80 in Indiana. Take US 30 from Ohio. Far better road and moves just as fast as 80. Safer to. Take RJ's link and check the roads. We found US 20 north of Cedar Rapids IA a great fast road. At Ft Dodge swing up and take St Rd 7. Then hit St Rd 3. Comes out in Vermillion SD. Take that and SD 44 all the way to the Black Hills. Once you hit Winner SD, there are no rooms all the way to RC. We knocked 300 miles off the trip by staying off the interstate and taking these roads.

Wish I could go with you, but alas I can't .
My boss just did a tour out west from Tahoe to Oregon up the California Coast.
That is what I would like to do one day.

Eric...have a safe trip and be sure to stop at Monument Valley at the Ute reservation....that's where John Wayne made alot of his movies...there's a place there called Goulden's where he use to stay, nice place, good food and great scenery....I know you'll enjoy your trip, we've been out there several times and have always had a great time...
