I think I got the link from here. Anyway, I'd asked the guy for more pics which he sent. Talked to him a coupla times (name is Tim). Nice guy, but not very honest. He said a few rust spots. The pics looked great. So I drove 3hrs with my truck/trailer to go pick it up. The bike was a mess.
The bike looked horrible. Every nook & cranny was rusted. Underneath the engine was dirt & oil. The underside of the pumpkin was black. The forks had something I've never seen before. Starting just below the bottom triple tree, there was severe corrosion. Not pitting or anything. It looked like someone had poured acid on them. You could rub it with your fingernail and powder would start falling off. I could actually did my finger in. Strange thing is, down below where the chrome fork cover is, it looked almost new. Rust everywhere. Thank god I looked at it first. Cost me 7hrs and $160 in gas. Heavy disappointment. He was asking $3500. I wouldn't have paid a $1000. Hope this saves someone else some hassle. Angry

hmmm, i looked at a yellow and white a few months back up near me.  it souds similar to what i saw.  the owner cleaned pools and stored the poor thing in a rental bin with all the pool chemical supplies.  Shocked
the chrome was all bubbly and very rusted.

That's the guy. Was painful to see a Valk in that condition.

Sounds like a doner bike now.  What a shame but it may be worth more in parts. (if they are in any kind of shape)  How many miles did it have on it?

80k with a supposedly rebuilt u-joint. I wouldn't buy any parts off this bike. If the exterior looked so bad, I wouldn't trust anything internal. If someone were to get it for say $500, it might be worth taking it apart to see if anything is salvageable. But, then again, I'm pissed. Cheesy
