Although I lived through its heyday, it has nothing to do with what you'll find on my iPod.  I've never had a nickname and when I signed up all I could come up with was Dave in Frisco (TX).  Rolled with that for several years and then Yoda Master wisely saved some keystrokes and called me Disco in a text or email or something.  It was a logical contraction, wasn't taken already, and drips with irony.  Early Bird still cracks me up.  Hi Ray.

When I bought the bike I felt just compelled that I absolutely had to acquire a genuine Norse valkyrie name for her and went looking. Sigrún just felt appropriate to the beast. And what else could I really use as my handle here than the nime of my bike

I cut it short and made it Rowdy  for the VRCC

My father in law use to call me Haldy (I gues that's another name for Howard in West Va) He would greet me with Howdy Haldy - so with a few word changes  to make it sound  ok over the CB "Rowdy Howdy" was created 

In another motorcycle group they call me U-Turn  for just about what U'd expect - I would make several before I finally reached my destination

In the early 90's I worked as a supplier to the local General Motors Assembly Plant.  Over time I befriended a few guys there who ask me to join them for a Saturday morning ride.  As I joined up for the first ride, I was the only Caucasian in the group.  They were adamant that I have a riding name, and before I could come up with one, the group consensus was Pale Rider was appropriate.  Once my other friends caught wind of it, I can't shake it.

I like my bikes big and powerful, (although there is a HD Lowrider in my stable as well as the fastest of them all, a Gen 2 V Max.)

Way back when... Spring of '99 and I had less than 30K miles on ALI... some Texans (Valhalla Six Guns riders) were getting together for a weekend of merriment and mirth, and I decided to just haul-off and join 'em. So, I rode out from central Florida, where I wuz livin' at the time, and just showed up unannounced. Got a warm reception, too.

The timing was such that I had to travel out yonder at the height of what folks in the deep southeastern USA not-so-affectionately call 'Love Bug Season': Yes, it extends well beyond the state boundaries of Florida. Anyway, by the time I pulled into the Valk rider gathering spot, every forward-facing surface on my almost new Valk AND my person were completely covered with the bodies of those pesky little critters. One Texan even mused that I just may have killed more bugs than Ortho...

Well, by the time happy hour (which actually goes well beyond 60 minutes in the Republic) was about half over, I'd been given a new handle... Insecticide. Since that was difficult for me to spell, not to mention all the wear 'n tear it produced for my typin' finger, they authorized me to use DDT as a nickhandle... and the rest, as they say, is history...

P.S. In case you're wonderin', YES, a good time was indeed had by all that weekend... In fact, I formed some great friendships on that little outing, and some of those folks still speak to me even to this very day! No foolin', they really do...

One evening, my wife & I, her son and his wife, went out to dinner in a rather pricey restaurant to celebrate some event....a b'day or something. It was quite noisy and was difficult to hold a conversation. One clown at least 20' away was on his cell constantly and talking so loud everyone in the place could hear him....he was just one small example. I suggested what the city needed was a restaurant that was quiet enough to carry on a conversation without yelling across the table. I said I would like to open one that prohibited cell phones, men would be required to remove their caps/hats when entering, all patrons dress like you had some self respect, and in Florida there is no smoking in restaurants so that's covered. And, if you get loud you will be asked once to tone it down and if you don't, you'll be asked to leave. I had a few other requirements but those were the main ones. I then mused over a name and the daughter-in-law suggested with those kind of limits on being a guest, how about Mr. Stuffies?  It stuck as a nickname...so I use a shortened version on here.

In general, I don't have a problem with how other folk are in a restaurant. I just feel there's a time and place for some activity, and a Five Star isn't the place to act/dress like you're at a frat party. But that's just me....Stuffy I guess.

Man was I lost on this one! I didn't even see the "Stuffy" in your profile. I'm reading it thinking where is this going?? Then I thought of this song from my childhood. And was going to ask if your middle names are "Jacob Jingleheimer"?? The loud part of the song having something to do with the restaurant noise. Never mind me..My brain makes strange connections sometimes.

Anyway, mine is pretty lame. I joined my first forum a few years back (garage journal) and didn't really think to much about the name meaning anything. I always like custom cars. Anything not stock I guess and custom was taken so I just added the 1. It is usually available on other sites so I just keep it the same.

Deer hunting from horseback does NOT necessarily mean you discharge your firearm from the saddle. Horses were a means of getting into the BACK WOODS without having to hike and of course a pack horse or two to carry supplies and to pack the deer out. Dad had a horse named BIG RED and he could shoot from the saddle with him. Takes training but not impossible.

Went to the University of Oxford in England and my first bike, which I still have, was a Harley.

Before I retired I use to own almost one hundred acres and a cabin up in the Endless Mountains of Pennsylvania. There were five thousand acres of public game lands that came right up to the back of the property, and I had permission from the surrounding farmers to hunt their land which gave me another three thousand acres to hunt.

I would go up there for weeks and long weekends and not see a soul and enjoy every moment walking the hills. And when I got back to work people would say how was your vacation ' mountainman. '  So when I signed up for this message board their voices was still ringing in my head.  Hence the handle.

I still miss that place, for it had a one acre pond with a spring fed source, twenty two feet deep and it was stocked with all sorts of fish and you could get a six or seven pound bass that looked like a small salmon.   And being a meat cutter a lot of 'Bambie' filled my plate and freezer.  I had to sell it because my back was going south and thats when I bought a bike for the first time, at sixty four years young.   ( souuld have started sooner, who knew ?  )

Now I seem to be not able to ride like I use to and my beloved ' Bumble Bee ' , will wind up in Tennessee with my nephew, a gift from his old fart of a Uncle.
