Is anyone running shocks made by 'Works?' I'm a big heavy guy. . .  and need to go to a heavier load shock. I remember a fews yeasr ago on this board someone was talking about 'Works' and how they custom make the shocks to your specific needs.

The Works folks build them based on your solo weight, two-up weight, and then factor luggage etc.  You can get them in chrome or black.  Haven't looked at the site in a long time.  Things have likely changed in ten years.  Ymmv,

I think it is still the same with three settings.  For what it's worth, Works has a 30 day "satisfaction" policy.  They will work with you and you can send the shocks back for adjustment if the shocks are not suitable for your needs.

Priced at over $500 unless you find some from their outlet store.

They asked me my weight and a few other questions and they've been great since '05.

I'm surprised that no one suggested Progressive #416 air shocks!  I put a pair on my '97 Tourer 6 years ago because I weigh 200 and my SOS (150) plus full saddle bags plus about 50 lb tongue weight for the trailer.  When alone I usually run 40 PSI, fully loaded 75PSI.  As I recall they were about $460.00 at the time, and MAY carry a "lifetime"  warranty (not sure about that one) and I'm told that they are rebuildable, if and when that should come up.  I'd sure give them a call before you decide.

I weighed abt 235 and my wife weighed abt $$$ (too smart for that one) and we had Works shocks on our Interstate.  I had them made with I think is ARC where you can quickly adjust for changing load.  They were GREAT, far better than 416's more supple and firm without any pounding and you could adjust them for solo, 2up, and fully loaded conditions.  Not cheap, but well worth it.

If you can afford it definitely go with Works, probably 3 times the price as progressive. I have them on my other bike and they built them for my height weight, 280 and they are superb.

I have the 440's on my Valk and they bottom over the hardest bump, you can't ride 2 up. My buddy have the HD 440's and it's like riding a rigid. After 3 years the seals leaked on my 440's, progressive fixed them for free but on on that model. They should not have went in the first place.

Progressives are a cheap and better alternative to stock suspension but are no way in the same league as Work's.

I have the "Works" on my Standard and they are the best by far. They ain't cheep  but are well worth it. Easily adjusted for solo, two up, or loaded. The second best are the 440's. If you do and traveling don't waist your $ on the 416's, they are a small step up from the OEM and not worth the $.

Looks like progressive are on sale at Dennis Kirk.  I'm not seeing a big difference in price between Works and Proggressive, what am I missing.  What is the standard length for a Valk. standard, 99

OEM length is 13". Cause Progressive´s (at least the 440´s) have less sag, most use 12,5" for OEM replacement.
