Don't know if they still make them, but H-D had plastic flag holders (Flag included) for the tourpack and other mounts. The H-D logo would come off with some carb cleaner, if you didn't want it.

I use Pro Pad mounts for HD FLH Saddlebag Rails. Fit the Hondaline Saddlebag Rails perfectly. I run the 6x9" flags but you can get the mounts with longer poles to fit 10x15" flags. http://www.thepropad.com/Flag-Mounts-Prodlist.htmlMarty

Geez, I guess that makes me a double dope. Anyway, had a guy make a gizmo that bolts to the luggage rack. It's kinda over engineered and will easily handle extended hwy speeds. Photo is after a 60 mile escort which at times exceeded 70 mph. These are 3X5 flags and the US flag is a Tough-Tex flag. My advice to anyone that wants to fly flags on their bike is to not skimp and look to find a cheap way. Spend the time and money to ensure that whatever you got will not come apart or break up. My set up, not including the flags was $180. While it's alot I know it ain't going nowhere but with me. Smaller flags that you are looking to use should be fairly easy to attach to the bike and shouldn't cost much to do it. But don't be afraid to over do it.

however you mount it, remember either in the center or on the right rear. Easy way to check, look at a post office or state or federal building. The US flag will be on your left (the flag's right) as you look at the building. Same with your bike, if you look from the front the flag will be on your left which is the right side of the bike. The gathering of Patriot Guard guys I often see always correct those who have it wrong. Our flag is special and deserves to be properly displayed.

I fly two flags, one on each side of my luggage rack. They are the same Flags that you put in you car windows to fly, they fit on the luggage rack. I also have a 4'x2.5' flag I fly for PGR missions to honor our Vets. I made a bracket that fits on the luggage rack. Santa

Two ways I know of that do work. Both use a "car flag" with the post removed. What tank_post said, using a cable tie to anchor the flag about the height of the top of the trunk. Don't go too high or the wind will bend your antenna. Or you can get a piece of 1" wide by 1/8" thick flat aluminum at Home Depot or some such place, a 3' piece of 5/16" X 18 all thread, a nut to match and a chrome acorn nut (ACE Hardware) and a piece of 3/8" OD styrene tubing (hobby store) cut the aluminum to whatever length you want, round one end w/ a grinder or file, drill a hole in the rounded end and tap it 5/16" X 18, drill a hole in the square end large enough to accept the bolt that holds the chrome antenna mount. Sand with 320 or finer wet/dry, then polish with a GOOD metal polish. (You can get it as shiny as the chrome on the antenna mounts with a little work) Mount the polished aluminum on top of the antenna mount with one bolt, using Blue Lock Tite. Cut the all thread to length of the styrene plus about 3/4", thread it into the polished aluminum, then use the nut to lock it, being sure to use Blue Lock Tite. Slide the styrene over the all thread, slide the flag over the styrene, (a small narrow piece of the "hard" side of stick on Velcro stuck to the styrene will hold the flag nicely) add the chrome acorn nut to the top and you are done. Lock Tite here is optional, but I reccomend it. I can e-mail you a pick of the finished mounts on my I/S if you like. E-mail addy is in my profile. Stan

I must be a triple dope. On Patriot Guard Missions I run a 5X8' US Flag flanked by 3X5' POW/MIA and PGR Flags. I have a flag mount that slides into my receiver hitch for those. Marty

Marty That's different, that's effectively a parade. This guy mounted it and just left it on all the time. Left it outside in the rain, left it on once it got tattered and had bird crap stains all over it from being parked at the beach... That's something that really pisses me off; people who claim to be patriots and love the flag but have zero respect for it and how it's to be treated.

I bought mine from another PGR member who had it on his 1500 Wing trike till he totaled it. He had another one made for the 1800 Wing that replaced it. Marty

Good save there Anvil. I'm with you there about the proper display and respect. I've gone back for the .99 cent store 4th-o-july patriot for a day flags that end up in traffic when they forget and lower the window. I welded a mount that bolts to the back rest and uses the package rack for extra support. I have a tripple flag setup. DONT use the caribinier clips that are made of aluminium.

If U have the flat rail rack on the trunk - the window flags can be mounted on the bracket with some modifications and tie wraps I just won a plaque at a poker run for having the most Patriotic bike
