Don, I only have pictures anymore from about 1990 to current. All of our belongings were in my parents basement when it flooded. I had just retired and we were looking for something to buy.
Salvaged a few items, but ended up taking the rest to the dump.
I lost my Marine Corps pictures, Boot Camp, Korea, San Francisco, Camp Pendleton, Camp Lejeune and all my CHP pictures also.
The pictures we lost that really hurt, was all of the kids pictures growing up. Shortly after birth, 1st steps, 1st teeth, kindergarten, graduation from Grade school, graduation from Mid-school as they call it now, was Jr high back then, high school, and from college of those that went and got the degree.
You talk about length of the engine, it only had 2 more holes, in length, to go into the firewall and into the drivers compartment. We opened the door to change the back 2 plugs. Pistons in those engines are only the size of a silver dollar. The engine looked a lot bigger than they were. The open driveshaft in it was like the Chevy Trikes, about 12" long counting the u-joints. We built a doghouse to set over the engine, to keep out some of the heat a flying debris.
Buddy of mine who lives in MI, who I talk to at least once a week, corrected me last night on the rear end. I had said it was a Lincoln on the board, we were reminiscing last night and he politely informed me it was an open end Cadillac, he had helped put it in, and we got it 1/2" off center on installation, and that I'd said screw it, it is close enough.
