I have wondered if the relative popularity of the Spyder would create a move toward triking the front end of motorcycles instead of the rear...

I like the ingenuity of the mechanic. He saw something different and created it.

Those are some really cool vehicles but they are not motorcycles. Motorcycles have only two wheels. Period.

+1 If it doesn't lean it ain't a bike. It's just a car missing a wheel.

A local bike shop, which I don't like, sells parts and Korean and Chinese discount bikes. Most days they have them out front by the road. I rode by one day and spotted what looked to be a Can-Am Spyder and became excited. I thought a cheap knock off version might be fun to play with and fit my non-existent budget. Sadly, it turned out to be a real Can-Am which was more money than I wanted to spend or could afford to spend even if I had wanted to.

A cursed good alternative to giving up riding as we age. Yeah, I'm getting up there in years. There is a Valk done that way by one of our own on this board. Used an IS involved in a crash and totaled I think. I still want your trike! Hoser www.valk3.com/

I wouldn't. I've ridden the Can-Am and it just felt completely wrong in every way. To each his own but I think I'd rather have a nice convertible when I get too old to ride a bike.

Here's the Roketa three-wheeler. Click on the photo, and it will take you to the website: And, the trike: They don't get very good reviews as far as construction itself, but as you mentioned, if cheap enough, fun to play with. However, they might be over-stressing it. One of the gals at work has a two-wheeler Roketa, and rides it all over the place. Never had a single problem with it. She wants me to put an auxiliary tank on it, to extend her range.

You may change your mind when you put on another 30 years or so. I know I did. There are a lot of them in my other riding group. Hoser http://www.romeoriders.com/forums/

Local mechanic/welder and his fabrication. Look at the tanks on the one beside it. Some serious range, but a little to much fuel a little to close for my liking. Bob

I finally found the Roketa Spyder (Can-Am much) knock-off. Sold under a few brands these are clearly wannabe Spyders. It is sold under a few different names, or a few different companies are selling the same bike. I like the fuller fenders. Although it does need more headlights. I wonder if I could squeeze a different engine into it? Perhaps if I pulled off some of that plastic. Perhaps I'll be able to find one with a blown engine in a year or two and be able to pick it up even cheaper. It is getting closer to a price point that will be fun to cut into pieces and then put together in a new shape.
