Been thinking of these bikes lately. Went today and saw  both at the local dealer.
For those that have either of them what has been your experience and satisfaction with them.
i mostly do one up riding and local and trip rides.
the valk is getting pretty heavy and just toying with the idea of picking up something else.

VStrom 1000 or Wee strom?

Personally I like the Versys over the Wee Strom. I know a lot of people like it but I personally think the SV derived 650 mill is a gutless lump. The 1000 is not much heavier and more appropriate for America's open roads. So for me it's really a question of Versys Vs. the 1000 Strom.

But the Versys is a nice handling bike and frankly, better looking that either Strom.

I can't say anything about the Versys... or the Strom 650 for that matter... But, I DID have a Strom 1000.

Engine - WHOA NELLY!!!!! Awesome!!!  And an actual "overdrive" to boot!

Style - Not very pretty, but comfortable.

Riding... this is where it falls apart.  BORING.... To me, the Valk is way more fun to ride.

I ended up selling it due to boredom.  It just wasn't fun to ride around.

Ha! You weren't riding it in the right places.

I have one of those 650 lumps that Anvil talks about and it does everything for me that the Valk does. So much so that the Valk may go up for sale.

I have ridden the versys and it was a great bike but like most bikes in this category it was quite boring.  Good a to b transportation.  Small cockpit if your a big guy.  Not really an adventure bike either if thats what you are going for.  Most adventure bikes are pretty boring unless you are adventuring on them.  They are a compromise in so many areas that they excell at nothing well.  I currently have a 99 Triumph Tiger "girlie" and consider it my rain bike and for late fall early spring before the roads are good enough for the valk.  I can recommend the tiger for sure tho!

I have to agree with that. On the Interstate? Boring, (but then so is the Valk really). On a twisty Vermont back road? Ooooooohboy could I get into trouble on any one of them. Not boring at all.

As far as the SV engine goes, I don't mean any offense but I remember hearing all of the praise for it back when it came out and then being thoroughly underwhelmed when I got to ride one.
