...was a cooker of a day today...almost a hunnert degrees out...

....Chili got home from work and I packed the cooler with...the essentials....we hopped in the truck ...cranked up the air....and headed out of town a few miles to a lil place that only the locals know..

....pullin up we saw that other had the same Idea...but thats okay...on a hot day like this...theres plenty of river to go around..

....this is the Ausable River...a slow moving, meandering body of water that makes it way right through our tiny town and on into the woods....its said to have some of the finest fly fishing around...and is a mecca for canoers all summer long..

....look closely....you may reconnize someone..

....yup...the Wolf is coolin off..

.....Ahhhhh...life is good

. ...after a while it was time for dinner...river side...lets see...I made deli roastbeef and sharp cheddar on an onion roll....with Guldens Spicy Mustard and Horseradish spread...lettuce....and ofcourse a nice Clausens Dill Pickle....and to wash it down...Chili,s favorite.......Ice Friggin Colddddd Killians..

.....while we were eatting...a fly fisherman wandered by..

. . ....as did a couple of racers...practicing for the Ausable Canoe Race they hold every year right in our tiny town..contestents come from around the world to compete in this overnight race..these guys were so dang fast...it was all I could do to get a quick shot of them...paddling out of sight..

....what is it they say about...dog day afternoons ?...this dude was half lab...and he Loved swimming with everyone !

....yup...nice way to end the day....cooled off...refreshed....hangin out with my Chili Gurl...were gettin psyched bout Inzane next week...get to hang out all week with alot of friends that we havent seen in over a year......summer is just a rollin right along..

. .....c ya,s at Inzane !!  cooldude

I've always enjoyed the Grayling area and the AuSable .

Does this look familiar, Timbre?

Been there and it is a beautiful place to hang out on a sweltering MI day. Looks like you had a great time!

Did you take the advice about the "Kotex Sweatband"? Grin

Ahhhh...we did it again this afternoon. I gotta tell ya...I was looking forward to that allllll day while I was...er...perspiring in a most unladylike fashion.
Brad, that's the put-in at Whirlpool on the main branch of the AuSable. The locals run down there for a dip on hot summer days (ssshhhh...don't spread that around too much..it's a secret! Cheesy)

ummm..momz...er...I just don't know what to say Cheesy

Ya, Solo...they lowered the dam a coupla feet and rebuilt the bridge too. The arch is a lot lower and makes it easier for handi-capped n such to get across. Your angle is just a little way from where we sat for the fireworks on the Fourth of July. By the time the legal and illegal fireworks were done the whole area was a haze of smoke...lol. It's a nice city park, I think.

Yo, BD...if it gets too hot we'll drag ya back here while we water some plants and then make ya go jump in the river with us. Ain't nuthin' like it :thumb:

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Good pix.
When we did the Q we went kayaking on the river. It was fun. Water was very cold that day. Was a crap load of racers tho. We'll do it again next year.  Wink
