165 in an IROC car at Texas Motor Speedway... First banked turned my vision went black (I was the passenger). Gained a lotta respect for NASCAR drivers that day.

Back in the day (around '69-'70 or so), my brother had a '67 Shelby GT 500 with the Cobra 428 in it. It was an honest to goodness real live '67 Shelby...he bought it when he got out of the Navy (I've got pics somewhere in a box). Anyway, we were on a road trip to St Pete to see a car show and visit Grandma. This is back before the Interstate was finished....so we where on what are now the back roads. We wanted to get there so we took a short cut road that runs south of Tallahassee.....called the Bloxham Cutoff. It's straight as a arrow and runs right though the middle of absolute nowhere (think pine forest and swamp). We hit 160 and the car was still pulling. Scared the crap outta both of us......but it was still damn cool nonetheless. Fast as I've ever been. Dang it was fun...that car would smoke the tires in all four gears. Only been to about 105 on the Valk though.

I've been lucky enough to take a stock car to @ 168 mph around Pocono racetrack. I'm a big NASCAR fan and that was incredible... got to do about 24 laps. On the Valk, I've rolled that silky smooth power to @ 130 mph. It felt like I was going a bit faster than usual, but it wasn't til I looked down that I believed I was really going that fast. Still as smooth as ever. RiderNJ

Hmmmm Gotta think back 'cause I won't do it any more...
1) What ever true top end is on a '97 Tourer. AND, smoked the front tire due to bad swingarm bearings. Those bars were really doing a zillion lefts & rights. Eased gently off the throttle until she stabilized.
2) 70 mph in first gear on a Hayabusa. Then I did the smartest thing I could think of, I shifted into 2nd. And finally backed off at about 140...ran out of nerve. It was my life and another' bike.
3) '91 3000GT VR4 around 155 mph on I55 southwest Chicago at 3 A.M. With it's auto air dam & spoiler that thing really hunkered down and stuck solidly.
Now-a-days I'm content with 5-6 mph over the limit. Figure I survived my young and dumb years, so why screw around now.
The little 6" drag race below topped out at 31 MPH.

When I got my second bike, Magna 1100 I took it out side of town on a straight section of new pavement and got up to 146 indicated before backing off. Also took a RocketIII to 140 indicated and backed off when I started to feel the front end lift.

and these speeds are all the truth, never mind that no tests by pros ever got as high, and darn few of the claimed speeds were ever achieved by professionally set up cars/bikes on a track. I personally had a 1955 Cushman Eagle that would hit 106, two up.

Buried the speedo on a buddy's '69 Buick GS back in my young and dumb days... I believe that was over 140 Have seen 130+ (indicated) numerous times on the Valk in the past, but when I stop and think about all that can go wrong at that speed (deer, raccoon, possum, gravel...) I shut down quickly... These days, other than an occasional educational opportunity, to enlighten an HDS (Hardly Davidson Snot), I tend to keep it within 5 - 10 of the posted limit Black Dog

154 mph in a XJS 12 cyl Jaguar in the 80s... Long straightaway highway with no one on it... At that speed, you're looking at what is way up ahead of you, cuz that's where you are. Don't think I'll ever need the opportunity to do that again... Been in the 130s many times... but 154 is the fastest.

125 indicated on my Magna. Felt a lot faster. Shut it down quick when the LEO in the other lane taped his blue lights. (Wide median topping a hill with tall grass. Don't think he got a reading on me.) Don't know what my Valk will do because the carbon based rev limiter shuts it down about 120. As for you guys hitting 130+ Did 110 in a Dodge Charger once. I know that doesn't sound fast, but it was off road across the bottom of a bean field. (I wasn't driving, or blinking, or breathing ) It was as flat as the bottom of a skillet and covered with talcum powder fine dust. It was a very strange sensation. Very smooth. Felt like the car was floating, and remarkably quiet. Sort of a soft, muffled rumble. The cloud of brown dust kicked up behind us must have looked like the exhaust plume from a rocket from a distance.

140 in a 2004 Dodge Charger, extreme tunnel vision! There was still some room for the pedal to go down but the computer shut me down. I swear I heard it shift around the 115 mark but don't know for sure. Turn that computer off and I'm not sure how fast that car would of gone. Only been up to 110 on the Valk, which I guess is 105 if the speedo is off by 5 mph.

Your right, my 155 is a lie! The speedo actually said 158, but I knocked it down to match the US Route designation. Was it actual? I wouldn't know, but that's all I had to go on.

154.4 something, can't remember precisely. Richard Petty driving school at KY Speedway. I've still got the timing slip somewhere around here. Never forget glancing out the right window and thinking, Damn, that railing is close. Used to own and ride a KZ1000, I have an official record of achieving 140 mph courtesy of the KS Highway Patrol. That was long ago in a far away land that I do not wish to re-visit.

Friend in 1970 had a "slightly" modified Firebird. WE went 162 mph one night on a road I wouldn't drive 75 now. Road racing a Mustange. The engine still had several K rpm's left on the tack. I had, at the same time, a '69 Camero that I took up to 135 several times. The front end would start floating when I went above that speed. Loved that car.
Indicated 115 on a '71 CB450. Indicated 105 on a Yamaha snowmobile. My Valk has only gone up to 100 with me on it, getting a bit more sane in my old age.
Only time I have been to the 200 mph mark was in a small airplane taking off.

This thread reminds me of a story I heard once. The wife's birthday was coming up and I asked her what she wanted, she replied that she wanted something sitting in the garage that would do 200 in three seconds. So, being the good husband that I am, I fulfilled her wish. The day came, she went out into the garage and hasn't spoken to me since the divorce hearings. It seems she didn't want a weight scale. But, it'd do zero to 200 in less than three seconds.

blackrams. I had a KZ1000 also. Wicked fast. Did 140 mph 2 up once. Young, dumb, and alcohol was involved. 33 years later, I had my valk up to 85 a few times on the interstate. Quit drinking years ago. I actually lived AND learned.

I let my son ride it a couple of times so that is questionable but, not with me on it. In passing on the road, I've exceeded the speed limit but, never to triple digits. Last summer the KS High Patrol got me again, while passing some lady that simiply would not allow us to pass and seemed intent on being a PITA in front of a buddy and I, we got clocked at 92 mph. Again, it was in KS, you'd think I'd learn someday. But, I normally ride within 5 to 7 mph of the posted speed limit.

Nope - not quite. Had the Valk up to 112 and quite - the trees were becoming one big blur. Had an old Harley 250 Sprint, just out of high school, got to 105 down hill and the valves started to float.

On the Valk, 115+- indicated keeping a Screaming Eagle honest before I thought about how much it would hurt if I lived. 69 Vette, sober, 132 indicated with pedal left on rt 118 in PA, a lot faster than that according to the guy who was driving the Nova that wanted to race on the way back from Silky Sullivans Pub on rt 40 out of Memphis. He caught up to me on base about 2 weeks later. He got the jump on me but I passed him at every gear change, until #4, then I was gone.

145, KZ1000 dad didn't know I took it for a ride. 153, '76' Trans Am 455 HO that car would fly. About 120 all the air dams and spoilers were starting to do their job and at 130 the car was squating down on the road. Seems the car had more but I was out of guts!

145 mph on a ZRX1200R Kawasaki 2004 model red.
128 on a Valk Tourer
125 on a Valk Interstate
122 on a Mean Streak
96 on a KLR650
100 on the FLHT Harley
140 2005 Concours with the bags off and the windshield cut down on a slight down hill run.
120 on SMokin Joe's Bandit, and pulled a sight wheelie.
170 on the Back stretch of Talladega,,,,on a Dale Jarrett Exp ride along.
That was a rush, just tryed to look left in the turns will gve you a neck cramp.
Loved it.
I was at the Cheaha Mountain Rally and slipped off for some high speed fun.

Had the speedo pegged a couple times on my 86 FJ1200. Trying to keep up with friends. It read 150. Had the Valk up to about 125 indicated, which probably meant 115-120.
