Seems this idiot went to attend a Basic Training Graduation for the 1st Battalion, 50th Infantry Regiment at Fort Benning, GA and didn't think the MPs would question him even though he was wearing more ribbons that Audie Murphy was authorized to wear plus a combination of Army and Air Force ribbons and Qualification Badges. There there are the bloused Combination 1 pants on desert boots. .jpg) To top it off that's an Army Special Forces Beret on the table with his jacket. .jpg) Benning's MPs noticed him alright and were nice enough to give him a ride in one of their cars, all the way to MP Headquarters. Nevermind that he looks WAY too young to be a Master Sergeant. Marty

His little league coach yelled at him alot and he could never find the bases...plus dad worked like 40hrs a week and never bought him a brand new car. He just needed more hugs....and unlimited texting plus a subscription to X-Box live and none of this would have ever happened.

When I was in the only time I wore Combo 1 was when I was sent to a school, during inspections or at Commander's Call if I was receiving a decoration. Marty

Wow ! you guys have been away for awhile ! you may not recognize todays military. If you stare at the tattoo on a soldiers neck/face or forehead he may get offended and hand you a stress card ( literally a 'hurt feelings report' )and do not swear or curse and please print clearly in purple pen when giving a reprimand so no one gets all butt sore because red may be offensive and blue is uncaring and black pen is just...well..racist !

Doofus is correct. Nimitoad. Wannabe. Jagoff. Clown. Saw this quite a bit working VA benefits issues for 18 yrs. Either active duty guy/gal exaggerating his actual service and decorations (alleging combat when he never left CONUS), or pure civilians alleging actual active duty. A whole book was written on the subject called Stolen Valor. http://www.stolenvalor.com/http://militarytimes.com/projects/hallofstolenvalor/Lets see, master aviators wings (only found on officers now), CIB with two stars, purple heart, multiple bronze stars, silver star, MSM and the Airman's (Soldier's) medal. If you're going to cheat, cheat big. Besides the mega ribbons from two services and multi qualification badges, bloused blues with desert boots and a SF beret give him away from 100 yards. This is a federal offense (misdemeanor only), but whether he is prosecuted will depend on how busy the local US Attorney's office is. http://usmilitary.about.com/gi/o.htm?zi=1/XJ&zTi=1&sdn=usmilitary&cdn=careers&tm=28&f=00&su=p284.9.336.ip_p554.18.336.ip_&tt=2&bt=0&bts=0&zu=http%3A//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stolen_Valor_Act_of_2005 He should get a hard paddling on his bare bottom and sent home to his mommy with no dinner.

I'd say he's quite an accomplished young man. All us Vets should realize now that you dont have to be actually awarded these honors to wear them. Cool patches and pretty ribbons are for everybody in California. The present administration has no problem with this kind of slug. They are too busy trying to convince us that Chicago politics are the American,,,,er,,, I mean,,,,,Global way. BTW, I hope Bubba is a vet. 6yrs, Navy here.

Ya know,
They ought to keep him there TAD, at least until his CO claims him. Pay him up to the rank on his orders and treat him the same way. If he says he isn't in, then put him in the box, until his CO claims him, or mummy gets his senator to request release. Tag him with a BCD for life and turn him loose with the clothes that he is authorized to wear.

Not necessarily. Guy in Denver was charged with wearing unauthorized military decorations and the federal judge dismissed the case saying it was a violation of the defendant's freedom of speech. Marty

Wow, I'm infantry and he has 3 CIB's, i only have One. Let's see, one for Iraq/afghanastan, one for garnada, one for desert storm. So, that means he was army before air force. 1991 to 2003. Then he went Air Force, 2003 til present. If he joined at 18, 1990 to 2011. Looks good for 39 and 21 years of combined service.
And he has a mustard stain on his jump wings, had to be garnada...lol

On base with no orders, they can pretty much use him as they see fit, until his CO claims him... Then I guess he will be cleaning the head for a while, if he doesnt have a unit to send him to. No need for getting the MP's involved. He wants in, I say keep him for a year or 2 before "discovering " that he is a fraud.

You don't have to be on orders to visit another base of any service; however, knucklehead is a former member of the Air Force. Apparently, he served from '99-06. Until '04 he was assigned to the 41st Airlift Squadron at Pope AFB, NC where he was given the Big Chicken Dinner in '04 and transferred to the Brig at Camp LeJuene, NC as a prisoner for his recreational pharmaceutical use. I'd like to see this guy brought before all of the base personnel. Let them all look at him dressed in that ridiculously decorated uniform (with desert boots no less). Let this imbecile see the expression on every serviceman's and servicewoman's face. ('Tar and Feathering' comes to my mind) As far as I'm concerned, he has shown a complete lack of respect to all active duty personnel and veterans. (Yes, I am a veteran). I couldn't agree more with the title of this post!!!

knucklehead is a former member of the Air Force. In which case you'd think he'd know better.... and not mix and match his gaudy hero suit. Having been convicted with a Bad Conduct Discharge (BCD = Big Chicken Dinner LOL) with brig time, you'd also think he'd be a bit more careful. He must smoke particularly good weed.

I understand that the guy is an idiot (I still can't figure out WHY he would do that) and may have even done something illegal for which he deserves punishment, but are some people here advocating the circumvention of due process to keep someone incarcerated?

No circumvention of due prossess if you dont charge him with anything. Just a case of mistaken identity. He wants to be a star, ok, make his wish come true. Whats wrong with helping a feller out? Give him the opportunity to be all he can be since he thinks hes quite a bit to begin with.

Keeping him around would not be a good idea (thou perhaps fun to think about)..... in fact all services work hard to get wing nuts, power drinkers, dopers , screwups, bad attitudes out of the svs and barred from all bases as quickly as possible. Bad examples, bad for good order and discipline, and bad for morale. Sundowners (kicked out in one day) are not possible because of due process requirements, but in 15AF we streamlined and refined admin discharges down to a science..... the minute a due process milestone was met, the package was walked to the next step.... gone in days. These fools are drawing pay and bene's while they do nothing but disrupt. As to why he did it......... ever hear of Walter Mitty? Delusions of military grandeur is very commonplace. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Mitty
