A spritz bottle with water will keep you wet between gas stops.

And a Daniel Meyer tip... When you stop for gas, put your helmet in the ice freezer. Believe it or not, that feels pretty darn good.

Did the shorts thing ONCE!  The bike rolled back up against my leg sitting at a light and that was Definitely the end of that!!!!!

I NEVER wear shorts on the Valk. I learned my lesson from Lieutenant Pukes (the previous owner) who got his leg good a few times. The last time was when he was moving back up here to NH from Alabama and he rode the bike into the back of the Ryder truck and it pinned his leg between the wall and the pipe for a second or so before he could lift it off. Loudest F-bomb I've ever heard, bar none. He was lucky in that the bike had only been running for about 15 seconds or so but it doesn't take long to get em toasty.

Saddles and zip codes, passports and gates, the Jones' keep.
In August the water is trickling, in April it's furious deep.
