I said that I would trailer the VStrom to Inzane.  Thinking it over, I decided not to.  Costs of gas, extra complications, and loss of slow speed riding ability

My skills in riding over the years, are for the most part, still there EXCEPT for slow speed maneuvering.
It's been too hot to practice like I should.  Knees are everything and it bothers me that if I drop the Strom, I won't be able to pick it up either facing the bike or facing away from it.  The last thing that I need is the VRCC guys (and gals) picking up the bike for me.  I know that it would get crowded mighty quick around the bike as you all will help.

My confidence isn't what it once was.  Now i know that most of you are still full of piss and vinegar and won't understand.  When you turn 83 let me know if you understand then Grin Grin Grin.

I guess that I will be driving the Mazda Three in AC comfort and four wheels. However, please note that I will stay off the golf cart paths this year.

Looking forward to seeing you'all.

Wayne

Wayne, glad to hear you're taking the safe route this year. Man...am I going to miss making that trip this year, maybe next year. Although my wife is protesting a bit, I'm looking into getting a scooter for her to increase her mobility. I know there's a couple companies out there that will work with Medicare to keep the cost down, won't be used much around the house but definitely when we go out to the mall and other large places. Have fun.

John, I'm gonna miss the balcony tire kickin'

Sounds like a good idea about the scooter. I hope that your wife will be able to get out more regularly.

Another input as to why I'm driving.  My only surviving sister at 90 years old is in hospice care.  If something would happen, I can turnaround easier by driving the Mazda.

I most certainly need this getaway.  I'm sorry that you can't make it.

Jerry, it would have to be either early...spring time maybe, or in conjunction with Bikertoberfest. Any other time it would be too hot and miserable, would remind me of the two years we had InZane in Paducah, KY.

I was planning a stop to see you if I made the trip again, guess it's not in the cards. My wife can't travel and there isn't any relative this year that can come to stay with her.

Devl I'm overwhelmed that you would make such an offer.

I've always had a personal policy that I never ride other people's ride.  I've not even ridden my sons Valks.  I did however, ride my oldest son's Pacific Coast to the dealer for him as a personal favor.

Actually it will be a treat just to see you and Bob again. We can talk about it but it's hard to break an old rule, especially when you get set in your ways. Smiley

Ride it Wayne, actually they are quite fun, and I think they are easier to ride than a regular trike.  JMHO  Hoser  cooldude

John,

My dad put off getting a scooter for two years because he thought he couldn't afford it, but after he looked into it, he paid little or nothing for it. Check it out...those things are great!

Drive safe and we'll see you all soon...

I REALLY have to start packing!!!

Wayne don't let old rules hold you back, if Devl ain't worried about it go for it, you got more riding experience then anyone and more commonsense then most...we ain't worried neither should you, if you feel like it do it. talk to Devl it's available.

Again thanks Bob and DEvl.  Well, I'd better get busy thinking how to pack the kitchen sink into the Mazda, it will be loaded.  Jes kiddin'  However, it does make it easier for Mark and Twila on the Valk , Mark can leave off the trunk and just use the saddlebags. cooldude

Loth, the Mazda sorta has a holy $hit bar above the door.  It a fun ride but is limited compared to the Mazda because of FWD.   As a result, I'll be notching things down a bit. Grin

Wayne, 1 word of advice, from one old knot head to another.      When and if ya look at scooters, 1st question for the dealer, is it made in China?    If  he says YES, walk out the door.

Currently we got 3 of them at the shop and either we can't find parts or for some reason or another it will not run.    When ya got spark and gas, they is supposed to run, right?

This non runner is going to be a parts bike here in very short order.   When it does, we will get the other 2 running.    We have already robbed parts, got them running, and then put the part back, just in case we get this piece of $hit running.  Last time we talked to the parts supplier, the parts we need are like 6 to 9 months out yet.   Seems like they have to have enough orders to justify a run.

I've gone through the damn thing, my son has gone through it, and his old high school instructor has gone through it, the top mechanic at the stealer we know has come over and he just scratches his head, we all come to the same conclusion, it has us all dumbfounded.   The stealer has a parts bike, but the parts we need have already been robbed for other bikes.............

New plug, carb cleaned and shined up real pretty, outside, new magneto, fresh non-ethanol gas, fire to plug, gas to plug, but no fire & run, not even a pop,  nuttin, nadda, we have nicknamed it a big old pile of $hit.   During slow time we keep plugging away at it, so we are not rushed in getting it to run.   We have run all new wiring in it, new plug wire, solid core center wire.

RJ, I'm not looking at scooters or bikes (same thing?).  Maybe you're thinking of John who's looking into buying a scooter for his wife who has difficulty walking.

My  Suzy Vstrom is my final bike and while it has cheaper parts than Honda, it is reliable.  The 90 degree Vtwin is a pain to change plugs but otherwise a real torqquer.

Brian, Mark just recently bought Chris's Givi trunk.  Chris went to a bigger one.  I'm not sure if Mark has mounted it yet.

Oh ok. I thought maybe he bought a I/S trunk. That would look neat with his paint.
