It's gonna be real interesting to see how this trial turns out! I can't imagine a SC jury finding her guilty but ya never know! This is completely absurd! It's been a long time since I read the "obscenity" law but I don't immediately see how they applied this to that law. It's all about bumper stickers, or other stickers like on windows showing a kid urinating on a chevy/ford emblem, etc. But as it stands right now, Stanley, you better stay out of SC! |

Yupper, here is my balls. been on there for close to 9 years now... And I might add, in all the lower 48 states without a hitch. SC is starting to irritate me. I think we need to give them boys a good ole Southern ass whompin. They are letting their LEO's do a big hurt on their economy at this rate. No one is going to want to go through, that just leaves the locals and they can't make up for all of that lost revenue.  |

South Carolina Code 56-5-3885. Unlawful to display obscene bumper sticker
South Carolina Code > Title 56 > Chapter 5 > § 56-5-3885 - Unlawful to display obscene bumper sticker
(A) No person may operate a motor vehicle in this State which has affixed or attached to any part of the motor vehicle which is visible to members of the public not occupying the vehicle any sticker, decal, emblem, or other device containing obscene or indecent words, photographs, or depictions.
(B) Obscene words, photographs, or depictions must be defined and interpreted as provided in Section 16-15-305(B), (C), (D), and (E).
(C) A sticker, decal, emblem, or device is indecent when:
(1) taken as a whole, it describes, in a patently offensive way, as determined by contemporary community standards, sexual acts, excretory functions, or parts of the human body; and
(2) taken as a whole, it lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.
(D) A person who violates the provisions of subsection (A) is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, must be punished by a fine not exceeding two hundred dollars.

A friend of mine had a set on his truck and the city asked him to put it in the parade...they hinted that some may not find them attractive....so he put a crown royal bag over them ! Now he does that every winter and tells every one that mentions the cold weather , " at least my nuts are cozy " as he points them out.

I just went online and found that the little town has 2 full time police officers. At least one of those obviously is not very smart... the one who thought it would be a good idea to write that ticket. I can't even imagine what he must have been thinking! Your shock at the expense involved is right on the money. I fully expect her to be exonerated but it's total crap that anybody had to deal with it in the first place! As a funny side to it... last night one of the local tv stations did a short piece on it and then read a couple of comments on the story from Facebook. One of the comments was... "I think they will get a hung jury" |
