(Just had to reuse this pic, Houdini)

Looks like both WDAN and my bike have become victims of the heat.  My bike started popping during deceleration about 3 weeks ago.  Not sure if it is the vacuum lines or the o-rings (which were just replaced on my bike maybe 6 months ago).  I have tried to fix it, but my limited mechanical knowledge multiplied by the heat index in the garage has made it challenging to get the tank off...cannot dislodge the rubber tube at the back of the tank (without fear of harming it).

So the response I got from the Tech Board was that it will not harm the bike to ride it with it backfiring?  Is there consensus that I can ride it for a little while without causing harm?  Anyone have preferences for a shop...Maxim vs. Al Lambs vs. ???

Kinda why I was thinking of taking it to a shop...
Plugs and o-rings were replaced in Feb.  Unable to locate the sink...is it somewhere under the radiator?   crazy2  I thought it might  be fuel, so I've filled up two more times at different stations with the same result.  Ran Seafoam through one tank....still popping.

Where in Texas are you?  It may be time for a wrench party.

Timbo is up here in N. Texas.  Our next scheduled wrench party is September but we can work on an emergency WP if necessary.

If you need a good shop I highly recommend Xander's Cycles in Forney.  Brent is a former tech at one of those stealerships you mentioned before going out on his own.  I have no financial interest in this recommendation but he is the only one I let touch my phat lady (outside of a wrench party).  He has always treated me right and for a very reasonable price (and he knows the valk inside/out).  Several others on this board have used him with good results.

Popping on decel is just unburned fuel in the pipes lighting off. Air is getting into them somewhere.

Harmless.
