I think this is a good plan. I think you will too This Is not Republican or Democrat , so all my friends should get on board with This. Please read before deleting.
The Constitution is not an instrument for the Government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to Restrain the government - lest it come to dominate our lives and Interests”. - Patrick Henry -
The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 Year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971...before computers, Before e-mail, before cell phones, etc.
Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) Took 1 year or less to become the law of the land...all because of public Pressure
I'm asking each addressee to forward this email to a Minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those To do likewise.
In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be Passed around..
Congressional Reform Act of 2011
1. No Tenure / No Pension.
A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.
2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to The Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American People. It may not be used for any other purpose.
3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.
4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
5. Congress loses their current healthcare system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.
6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.
7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.
If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S.) to receive the message. Maybe it is time.
THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!!!!! If you agree with the above, pass it on. If not, just delete.

That's been posted before and it's a great plan.
It'll never work! The only way that would work is if we voted ALL of them out of office and brought in elected officials that give a s$$$ for this country and not themselves.
The odds of that happening would be like Honda bringing back a new Valkyrie with a fuel injected 1800 cc engine, cruise control, reverse, and a price of no more than !2k.
There, Valk related.

My cousins brother-in-law was told by a guy who works at the Honda plant that there will be a new Valk in 2013! ...and no, the plan will never work because the clowns who are in office would have to pass it

Well if you would remember that "History repeats itself". Let's go back 47 years and just listen to Ronald Reagan's speech on 10/27/1964. And tell me if we are not in the same problem again. If you have 30 minutes please take the time and watch this.
When you finish watching Mr. Reagan then listen to one of our senators in today's government as senator Marco Rubio speaks. http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/RubioR

Well, no, that isn't how you fix congress. What is proposed there is a law. What is needed are a series of Constitution Amendments which, when ratified, cannot be overturned by a congressional vote.
What is needed.
1. Constitutional Amendment for Congressional Term Limits. 2 terms for a Rep. and 2 terms for a Senator.
2. Constitutional Amendment for Congressional Compensation. There will no longer be pensions for Congressmen or women. Pay increases must be approved by the American People. This would be done every Presidential cycle using the Electorial College. Every state would have the Congressional pay raise issue on the ballot and the State's electors would be bound by the vote of the people of the respective state. If approved, the increase can be no more than 3% and include any income derived from taxpayers (Expense accounts, office budgets, etc would fall under the 3% limit and such approval)
3. Constitutional Amendment for a Balanced Budget. Cause we can’t seem to do it with out one.
4. Constitutional Amendment for a Presidential Line Item Veto. Supreme Court can’t rule it unconstitutional if it is actually in the Constitution.
5. Constitutional Amendment prohibiting the Federal Government from using Base Line Budgeting to determine budgets for any Federal program, department, branch, or entity.
Get these things in place and you change the culture of DC, But this is only the start.
Then we can get to real reform. Social Security. Medicare and Medicad And other entitlements.
The thing to remember is that we are a country of FREE people. That is what made this country great and prosperous. The more dependent we become on government, the less free and the more mediocre and dismal we become.
If it was easy, we’d done it already

Just getting this information to the people will do nothing. What needs to be done is get it to the people and have everyone contact their Senators and Representatives and let them know that the next person you vote for for their office will be committed to working toward this goal. Next, make sure candidates for the next election know what will qualify them to be considered for your vote. Then make sure you follow through at election time. This is the only way it can possibly work!

or the odds would be like them voting term limits for themselves or them voting for the fair tax much of the same, they see us as 'bumpkins' because they are the ruling class....
