The whole country has gone insane. Everybody should make themselves aware that crap like this is going on and stay alert and be aware of your surroundings. "Police departments in several cities around the country are investigating what appear to be incidents of "flash mob"-generated violence, in which packs of dozens or even hundreds of youths appear seemingly out of nowhere to commit assaults, robberies and other crimes against innocent bystanders." That was the leading story here in Philly for the last week.
The need to bust these kids and then fine the parents. At least in Philly they were after 10pm, so they have been enforcing a curfew.
We will see if it works.

Not enough fire power, we need martial law. Checkpoints and curfews, quick action teams, special passes. Bring in the Xe boys. This is a job for the professionals. Martial law affects the law abiding as well....it is the slippery slope that will be met with rebellion. Careful what you ask for and mark my words

Hard if not impossible to get a carry permit in Philly, although there are plenty of shootings in the city on a daily basis...so I do not think it would matter much.

I think that flash mob nerds are stupid.
+1 on the heat we are packing down here.
I am getting old and too proud to run and too old to fight.
As far as the judge will see it as I limp into court all banged up from banging them up.
Just a warning to all the flash mob bone heads.
Better not do it here.
We don't play.

I was in Wisconsin when the attacks happened at State Fair. Young black men beating up white men... but... It's not a hate crime, in fact the police say they have no "proof' that the attack was racially motivated. Really? I told my Dad that things are going to change now that WI went CCW. In Florida you can be sure that a good number of law abiding citizens are armed.

The thing that worries me as a CCW holder is that they strike fast enough that you may be forced to fire first to protect yourself, and then it can turn into a group of witnesses that say you fired on a group of "innocents". And the plan of letting yourself get banged up before protecting yourself, can go from getting banged up to getting body bagged with as little as 1 misplaced kick to the head, throat etc. Hate to be the devils advocate, but unfortunately thats the world we're in. I'd be REALLY interested in some input from our legal and law enforcement bretheren.

Sounds like a cure that would be worse than the problem. We don't care much for being told where and when we can go around here. Of course, this probably isn't going to happen here. The last stats I saw for this area was that 1 our of every 14 citizens had a carry permit. I think it would be higher than that now.

This is happening as part of our new age of technology.
The sh+theads text each other telling where to meet in order to participate in their new found past time. It first happened here in Wisconsin at a couple of the malls in the Milwaukee area last year, they would congregate in mass and then march through the stores stealing and pillaging at will along with an occasional beating on the unsuspecting victim. The latest example there was a mob estimated at over 200 that was beating and robbing people leaving the State Fair grounds after the fair ended. They were so brazen that they were actually went into the streets stopping vehicles and beating people in their cars.
The police have no tips from their informants because it happens so quickly, so they have no chance of responding in time to stop it, again they end up being the report takers, not protectors. The cops tend to down play the numbers of the participants so the general public does not panic, but I have seen film clips where the numbers were in the hundreds.
All I can say is that unfortunately it will get worse before it gets better, just think what will happen after the economy takes a puke and the entitlement programs begin to get cut and the meal tickets are reduced or eliminated. Then it will be a way to support themselves, not just for FUN any longer.

This is exactly what has been happening all over the UK in the last few days. In the UK, unfortunately private gun ownership is illegal let alone CC. Be thankful that you are allowed to have some personal protection in some of your states. The Police in the UK were just out numbered by these mindless thugs and had their hands tied by liberal laws that protect the lawless.

Let there be no doubt, it is better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

The purpose of personal carry permits is "to protect yourself" thats why you carry not because it might give you some personal comfort having it on you. If you carry you better be ready to use it or "YOU" will be the victim and another thug will have your weapon. Nothing is for sure in this life, you will be judged by 12 of your peer's regardless. I would prefer that a few of those 12 have Personal Carry Permits.

simple solutions;
ban text messages for teens from 9pm to 9am. let parents KNOW what their teens are texting (send a copy of the texts with the phone bill). give the parents SOME say in their teens comunication.

If that's the case, the cops should start their own flash mob electronic notice for a staked-out time and place (ambush), and be ready with water cannon and two hundred guys with riot gear and 870s full of bean bag punishment.
Just a spin on the old... "hey come and get your free super bowl tickets" sting.

Hmm, that isn't such a bad idea. Most likely would be ruled as entrapment though.

Not sure that it's racially motivated....yeah right. If a mob of white guys beat up on some blacks you better believe they'd be shouting racism. NAACP, Sharpton, Jackson....they'd ALL be yelling racism.

Similar to what Jess says, I think "they" need to embrace the technology, just like the flashers. The technology is what provides them the ability to show up en masse at arbitrary places on a moment's notice. The police just need to get on board with the flash-messages (or whatever you want to call them) the same way the teenage flashers do (however that is...)... -Mike

Hmm, that isn't such a bad idea. Most likely would be ruled as entrapment though. Absolutely not entrapment. An invitation to commit crime to ones who are already predisposed to commit crime is not entrapment. They could show up and do nothing or do nonviolent protest.... if they do crime, it's on them.

My 94 year old Grandmother and my liberal sister were talking about the situation in Milwaukee. My grand mother said "the minority's are taking over the city" Linda said "well if they are the majority, maybe they should"
Grandma... "not with guns and knives"
Linda sat with a silly look on her face.
Yep, Grandma's right.
