I noticed a couple of drops of coolant on the carport, under the bike. Looking around and it seems to be originating at the thermostat housing. There is fluid on the kick-stand side, around the bolt. My question is, what do I have to remove to get to it? Can I get to it by removing the gas tank, or is there an easier way? Keep in mind that I am not that mechanically inclined. My knowledge is limited on mechanics. uglystupid2

Without actually seeing the bike, no telling for sure. There has been lots of posts about the clamp on the hose at the thermostat housing will work loose. The fluid will drip down to the areas that you describe. They go on to say that with a long screwdriver you can reach the top clamp without tearing the bike apart. I would try that first, before removing any major parts. You could search the tech board for the discussions. There is a search bar at the top of the page that will help you look for topic specific items. I have never had any leaks, so I have never had to try it. Good luck cooldude

When mine leaked like that I was able to tighten it.  I removed the top bolt holding the radiator, tipped the radiator forward a bit and used a flex extender with an 8mm ( I think) socket.  was pretty easy

Thanks for the replies.
Will try to do the radiator tilting this weekend. I will let you know how it goes. Again, thanks.

Well it's my turn!

Few nights ago while letting the bike run as I put on helmet and gloves I saw something shiny catch my eye under the bike.... I wondered who parked there last??? They must have an oil leak since a Valkyrie just does NOT leak unless really broken. Then insaw that damn drip, looked like it came from the water pump housing,,, nope dry. Damn a small drip line coming from over the top of teh timing cover... And the I moved the bike a bit and about 1/4 cup spilled over the timing cover in the middle about 3 lines and over the side near the left head.

I saw you update post on this subject after I started investigating my leak today. To get the radiator tipped far enough it looks like I need to remove the top hose near the radiator cap? Did you all have to do that? Was your instance on an I/S or other model?

Considering pulling radiator HOSES and pull radiator all the way off and install new hoses/rubber stuff that I can reach since my girl is 12 now so she is entering puberty and the years looking foward can be messy for some. Sorry I just had to go there!

Anyone for this weeks best prices on hoses and Engine Ice coolant???

Glad it sounds like your leaks are fixed up, thanks in advance for the help or answers.

Thanks,
Matt

I've had to "chase" a couple small leaks over the past 14 years and 242K miles.  The first was an ever so sllightly loose upper hose clamp.  Next time it APPEARED to be the water pump going bad, but after buying a new one, I found that it was only the little "O" ring on the pump. The last was one in a place that Chris-CMA help me find.  It was again a little "O" ring, this time it was on the water pipe gthat goes into the front of each head, a very easy and cheap fix.
