Willow Springs mo

« on: August 11, 2011, 08:54:30 AM »

My youngest a beautiful young lady turned 16 back in may. When we moved here to the ozarks 13 years ago she was 3 yrs old. We were coming into Springfield Missouri in my semi when my two daughters woke up and asked if we were in Missouri yet?? I told them yes and we had been for a little while. They got out of the sleeper and shared the front seat the last one and a half hours into Willow Springs Mo wide awake. Fast forward 13 years to yesterday. My daughter had a doctors appt which i took her to. After we got done at the doctors and went out side i gave her the keys to my car. uglystupid2 Up to this point in time she had been out with her mother her uncle her nana and her sister. Daddys turn and time arrived yesterday. 2funny I will admit to being rather pleasently surprised. cooldude She has a good basic knowledge of driving. Not one of these tickedoff was required anywhere on the 50 miles i let her drive. She admitted to being surprised to on my good conduct while she was handling my cage. That B T W did NOT come easy. My tongue is still a little sore from bitting it once or four times. 2funny My point-i wish i knew. Some how some where she growed up on me and turned into a rather beautiful young lady. Her entire little body USED to fit into the crook of my arm. Now she be driving. In 2 years she be off to college. She gonna run me an extra $500.00 a year on car insurance. crazy2 Yuppers-love her a lot. Just hope and pray she does as well as she expects her self to do. cooldude Give yer kids a hug and a kiss-even if they don't want it. They get growed up afore you know it. Grin RIDE SAFE.

My babies turn 8 weeks tomorrow... And while I'm in no rush for 'em to grow up totally, I am looking forward to that blissful time when they can feed themselves and wipe their own butts... Wink

My 2 are 27 and 31... It seems like I was just wiping the snot off their noses not too long ago.  Now they are well through college and have left the nest.   Cool   Now I have a Man-Cave... cooldude

I miss the days when they were home every day... but also enjoy the quiet at the same time.   crazy2

They grow up super fast and I realized that nothing changed over the years but the price of their toys. Grin

Mine'll be 17 in two weeks.  She took drivers ed in school and the first time I took her out (after taking and completing drivers ed) she went two blocks, both on the wrong side of the road, then made a right turn, from the left side of the road and wound up on the left side of the road after completing the turn.  I made he pull over and asked if her driving instructor at school was from England.  She looked at me puzzled and asked "Why?"  This one's gonna cost me some dough.   Cry

Speaking of driving, when up in Ann Arbor, I visited one of my best old friends from college.  After a couple beers and dinner, we waited out a big rain, then left for home, very late.  He turned down a street but it was full of cops and ambulances with lights flashing, so rather than backing up and resuming the street we were on or doing a three-point turn (no traffic anywhere), he whips a hard right up on the sidewalk and drives down that for about 100 feet until a driveway presents itself for our return to the lawful roadway.  He was not drunk (nor was I).  I laughed so hard I almost peed myself.

This is the guy who stood up for my wedding in '77, in white tuxes (Lord), and he hit it off so well with one of the bridesmaids, he comes back from a walk with her with grass stained knees and elbows.

OK sorry for the drift, back to the regularly scheduled thread.

I know that feeling, as well.  My oldest is 29 and has given us a beautiful grandson that we love with all our hearts.  My youngest, almost 26 now, is getting married in October and is presently a 3rd year medical student at MUSC in SC.   So proud of them both, I just can't stand myself......

Old2soon - congratulations! Sounds like you did things right!

Our oldest girl is 48, no kids.

Our middle girl is 47, two girls, one of whom is pregnant withour first great-grandchild.

Third girl is 44, two girls, 6 & 8, and they are the apple of our lives!!

All are married to their second husbands and seem happy this time around. Can't ask for much more than that, I guess.

married with no kids but that video reminds me of my father letting me sit in his lap and steering his old '57 chevy truck up the old lane at 7 years old. and as i got bigger and could reach the pedals he would let me do it on my own including shifting gears. he is now 85 and i still think back on occasion about those times growin up and smile. very happy memories.
