We hardly ever go to the movies anymore. Like you said, wait a few months
and you can buy it and watch it in the comfort of your own home..over and over.
Or wait a few more months and record it on PPV or one of the movie channels.  cooldude

Our theater in town has $5.00 tuesday (for the summer anyway), take the kids,  smuggle in some candy, try to get food first if not giant popcorn (free refill) giant drink (free refill),  sseveral small bags and cups.  Divy the drinks and popcorn up then refill.  Not cheap but better than paying individual prices.

We wait until they hit the $1.75 theatre (50 cents on Tuesday nites).  The theatre has $1.00 hot dogs but everything else is expensive.  But we can go on a Tuesday nite and spend less than $5 (Irving Starplex 10).

Yeah, I'm cheap.

The theater closest to us is $3.25 before 6 PM and $6.50 after.  We always go to the matinee.

Cowboys and Aliens rocked!

Was wondering how that movie was...now gotta go!  Yes, the price has gone up a smidge.  If your home during the day, go to the matinee, kinda like the senior thing LaserPat was talkin bout, its always cheaper than at night.  Gotta jump on the senior band wagon when ya can and save a little cash.... cooldude

Movies are for young people... my step daughter goes about three times a week.  She has a dead beat dad... who only occasionally send a $150 check.  Here a while back I was balking about how often she goes to the movies... and that every time she does it costs $30.  She popped off that he dad sends child support and she was entitled to use that money.

The next month I cashed the check, made a Xerox copy of it and gave her the cash and the copy in an envelope.  I also itemized her portion of the cell bill, the cable bill, her car insurance, her portion of the mortgage, the naturual gas, her gasoline, water, trash pickup, groceries, electricity and her clothing purchases for the previous month.

She owes me $628.38...

No movie that night!

Can't wait until she turns toward me looking for college tuition... "so sad, so sorry, darlin!  Guess you saw too many movies...."

Don't waste your $0.50 going to see Rise of Planet of the Apes.  You can figure that one out in the first 5 minutes but they too two hours to tell you what you figured out 1 hour and 55 minutes ago.  And if you have seen the movie Deep Blue Sea you have seen POTA.  Just replace the sharks with apes and you have the movie.  When will someone come up with a new idea?  Mess with their brains, they get smart, turn on their captors.  How many times does that have to be done?  Oh well, at least it was a $5 ticket.  Can you tell I was disappointed in the film?  Oh yes, don't give the line "Get your hands off me you damn, dirty ape" to a snot nose kid in the film.  That is Heston's line!!!  Now you know why I don't make a living as a movie critic.

The wife and I never go to the movies anymore.  We just use "Redbox" for $1.  That's right, a $1.08 with tax.  Granted we have to wait till the movie comes out on DVD, but sure enough, it's a hell of a lot better than $20 and then find out the money is just alright or plain stinks.  There is usually a Redbox at every Walmart and McDonalds nowadays.  New releases come out on Tuesdays.  I just stop at McDonals for a cup of jo on the way to work and look at the Redbox for anything we might want and then watch it that evening.  All in all, I guess I saved hundreds of dollars this way, even with the .99 cent coffee!

I go to the movies about twice a month, it is a pretty cheap date and at 17 X 3* I consider myself quite young.

I kinda liked POTA Doc, mostly the way they explained what happened to the people since even if the apes were twice as smart as us there isn't enough of them to wipe out the entire human population.

See Cowboys and Aliens, they may have stolen ideas from a lot of different films but they spliced them together in an original way.

I don't mind waiting on the DVD to come out.  By the time it comes out, I've heard enough comments from "real people" (not critics) I know what I don't want to watch.  When I rent one I can watch it more than once, there are no rude people talking and/or screaming children, I can watch in my PJ's, and can eat whatever I want while watching-not just the junk they offer.

Have not been to a theater in many years.  Do not like the Hollywood establishment and 98% of actors at all and will not fund them.  Had too many occasions of chronic talkers, and the theater management would neither remove them nor let me strangle them.  I am a huge movie fan, but mostly older ones.  With what I pay for HD FIOS, I wait for them to run on the TV.

It's almost football season anyway........... yeehaaaw!

my wife and I like to go to the movie.     We just go to eat good popcorn, and while we are there we watch a movie.

Cowboys and Aliens to me was a big letdown.   I really liked the plot and story line, but being an old person, it just really irritates me to watch a modern attempt at making a modern cowboy show.  In some scenes their clothes look pressed and only one or two of the actors look like they have ever ridden a horse.   When they are riding at a slow speed trot the actors are bouncing around like they are gonna shake their kidneys out.    But the biggest turnoff is when Harrison Ford and his group were being chased across the flat area and they are just barely lopeing their horses.    Watch an old western and you will see how the cowboys really rode their horses when being chased.

   ???

And the aliens and spaceship looked fake also; it's like they staged the whole thing.   Roll Eyes
