Felt a weird little wobble going around one of the few corners this morning on my way to work. Was pretty sure it was a tire problem so I kept it under 60 and hoped for the best on my way in.

After daylight I went out and looked at the scooter and all looked OK but I had no time to pull out the tire gauge. When it was time to head home I found the rear General Altimax was dead flat although it hardly looked low. Aired it up and made the 16 miles home.

Looks like I picked up a clump of 8 construction staples on my way in this morning. At least three leaking holes within ¾” of each other. I’ve ridden thousands of miles on mushroom plugged tires but there’s no safe way to repair this in my opinion.

Dang, only 4 months and 4000 miles on it but at least it got me back and forth “sunny side up”. A tire shop in Terre Haute is supposed to have one waiting on me when I get off work tomorrow for around $90. Seems to good to be true but we’ll see.

Was too tired too pull the wheel off tonight so I guess I’ll be driving the cage on a couple of beautiful riding days. AHHHHHHHH!!!!!

At least you're safe.

Suck man.

Glad it's only $90 and some labor and not $300.

I am also glad you made it there and back safe.

Your gonna pull it anywho-patch it from the inside. Done correctly it should be fine. That be my take on it. Flame suit on. 2funny RIDE SAFE.

Mike, maybe you should've titled your post "Darkside tire gets me home."

I put 3 plugs into that 3/4" area and it needs more. No way I'm using it now. I'm afraid all the reaming out for the plugs will have made a weak spot in it. With 20/20 hindsight and some advice from here I could have used Ride On or patched it from the inside.

Tire Barn who had promised to have one waiting for me this afternoon discovered when I got there that they must have meant tomorrow afternoon so I'll be cagin' it for at least another day. Angry

In all seriousness though, I probably wouldn't have patched it. If I've got to pull the wheel off then I'd probably replace the tire rather than risk having to pull it back off and missing more days of riding.
