last night someone on the VRCC listed this ebay item for sale

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180711176490&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT

now, he had a "buy it now" price, so i bought it.  for some weird reason, he had someone elses email address listed in the paypal account.  i followed the paypal account information, sent the money, then got an email saying he never got it!!!

this sounds like a complete scam!!  and i got screwed!!  if anyone remembers the post, please help me track this guy down!!

What did he say when you told him where you sent the money?  Did you use a credit card through paypal?  If so, no worries.

I remember the post here about him putting it on ebay because some at inzane where saying they needed one, but forget who it was and the posts seem to be gone. Maybe the admins can help.

Go into your paypal and see if the payment was claimed. Very likely wasn't and will show as 'pending'.

I ran into this a few months back - seller's eBay address and PayPal address were different. People sometimes forget to change both.

The ebay link was posted by Traveler-MI... you can look up his info under members.  Looks legit, he won the newest valkyrie rider award at InZane.

I spent time talking to both eBay and Paypal and they said the money went to an inactive Paypal account and for Chris to file a stop payment and all would be fine.  Detailed all of this just moments ago to Chris via email.  Waiting on response before re-invoicing the transaction.

On the same day this happened (just before and just after) I had sales process just fine.  I have no idea how this happened but I have been using both Paypal and eBay since the 90s and have never had a problem with either before today.

Glad to hear it's been cleared up.  If I don't know a seller, and I'm using paypal I use a credit card period.  If something goes wrong, I have paypal to get me a refund, and if they can't/won't I still can call the credit card folks and dispute the purchase.

Ditto.  I was an early adopter of PayPal for the same reason.

I think all is settled now.
